Not bad. Dead Rising wasn't what anybody would consider a graphical marvel on the 360 though.

This is awesome. This was one of the few 360 games that I really wanted to play and now that it's coming to the Wii I'm stoked that I'm not missing out.

Capcom seems to be showing the Wii a lot of love. Anyone else think we might be seeing a version of Lostplanet, RE5 or DMC4 coming to the Wii?

Yeah I think I see around 15-20 in one pic...that's nowhere near the count in some areas of the original.

I really don't understand how it will even compare to the 360 version. Even if they can get 250 zombies on screen at a time it just won't be the same.

I don't want DR on any other platform, it would kill me to see it becomemulti-platform. :( That's my most loved X360 game, omg this can't be happening. :(

I don't understand it, they are fully aware that the essence of DR was lost when they saw the BARREN corridors in the mall. Why take away what made DR so loved? Not tryna be stingy but if your going to do it then why not find a way to do it right or not at all.

There is nothing to be stingy about. It is a very poor decision on Capcom's part to do this. Even if they are able to recreate the gameplay they are still missing the key component... a massive hoard of shamblers and it is pretty obvious that the Wii is incapable of putting that many individually AI'd zombies on screen with all their own unique physics at the same time.

Dead Rising 2 will most likely be multiplatform anyways. This alone proves that Capcom doesn't keep anything exclusive anymore. A PC version would only make the game itself better and I would still buy both versions (I really want to get a 360 when the price drops so I can play more DR).

well i think if the gamecube can handle the huge draw distances of the wind waker, and if it can handle dozens of Resident Evil 4 enemys on screen, and dozens of people playing an MMO on the ps2 i'm pretty sure the wii verison will have at least 20 zombies maybe even 40 per camera angle

the good thing is maybe they'll fix the terrible aiming in the 360 version

that ruined it for me. the shooting controls were clunky.

why do you care so much if someone else can play your game? is it that your afraid all these people who said third parties will eventually make the Wii the software king like the PS2 this generation after a few years of development might be right?

you realise capcom prolly starting porting this late last year in 2007. so i can't imagine what they and other 3rd parties have planned for 2009 and 2010 and if monster hunter 3, eternal darkness 2, fatal frame 4 are any indicator then i'm going to be very happy with my Wii over the next 3 or 4 years.

dude the xbox can handle physics and A.I. in half life 2 which is far more advanced than deadrising

the A.I. in deadrising, at least the zombies is pathetic. someone gets near them and they lunge towards and bite.

thats resident evil 1 stuff right there.

besides resident evil 4 had intelligent enemies, dozens on the screen at a time.

and i really don't care about 200 zombies on the screen at once.

mind you also the PS2 had some dynsasty warrior games that actually had 100 enemies on the screen at once and they were about the same A.I. level as these zombies. these zombies are stupid dude, they aren't the covenant or the ganados.

so 100 people jumping with swords and each having their own combos in a DW game on PS2 on the PS2's lowly 290mhz CPU should be no problem for the Wii's 729mhz CPU.

im just saying dude deadrising may not be compromised at all, if only very little

its impressive how close the Wii pics are to the 360 pics, but as some have said deadrising wasn't a stunning 360 game either

You have obviously never played Dead Rising. Before my enlightening experience with the game I probably would have agreed with you but Dead Rising is a game that is literally "impossible" for last-gen hardware to handle, that includes the Wii. There is just WAY too much going on at once for it to handle. Each zombie acts upon it's own accord. It may be just a stupid zombie but it is an individual mind among hundreds on screen that interacts apart from every other one to the stimuli of the player.

Dead Rising was built from the ground up for the 360. The Wii version is only going to be inferior, it's just a matter of HOW inferior it will be. It could only be a little or it could be a LOT. We won't know until we see the game in action.

Very impressed by what my wii is able to accomplish. It looks almost as good as the 360 version just the 360 version has more zombies on screen and maybe little bit better lighting and textures on the 360 version but very suprised how good the wii version looks. Should be even funner if they add the wii mote into the gameplay. :)

maybe it has extra missions, extra content, i mean taking out HD programming prolly leaves alot of empty space on that DVD.

and it will be better

firing a gun in deadrising was horrid, with the Wii's IR function it should be seamless and easy just like in any other 3rd person Wii action game like Godfather and Bully where the aiming worked pretty well

i know fatal frame 4, monster hunter 3, final fantasy crystal chronicles, de blob, and little kings story were all cancelled on the wii and are being made for the hardest of the hardcore gamers system.....

THE DREAMCAST!

seriously the dreamcast is what happens when publishers focus on hardcore gamers, and what happens is failure.

I donno about you guys but in some of the shots Frank seems to have been taken over by Leon from RE4 because his stance when firing the Handgun is the same as RE4 and even the gun models look the same :|.

I prefer 200+ zombies on screen then better controls.

shooting controls werent that good but game was still playable

The save system is as good as it can get without removing all the challenge from the game. It is a game about "survival." That is why weapons break and they made it hard to stay alive. I never found the save system frustrating at all... I guess because I never died. I'd even go as far to say that being able to save in any bathroom makes the game a bit easier than it should be.

The aiming is perfectly fine. It's a third person game, dual analogue aiming wouldn't work... plus, most of the time you aren't shooting zombies anyways... you are crushing their skulls in with manikins and shelving units.

They are still physics and AI that the Wii would struggle to handle. The Xbox version of HL2 had terrible physics IIRC.

In Dead Rising there are many occasions where there are well over 250 zombies on screen at one time with NO LAG whatsoever (Overtime Mode in the tunnel where it is just a sea of zombies as far as the eye can see). Did you ever happen to go down into the parking garage? Wall-to-wall zombies with NO LAG, even when crushing them in a car.

The zombies aren't "intelligent" they just have good "zombie" AI. They are designed to make their way around the mall seeking out things to eat and do so individually. From what I have played of Dynasty Warriors, the battles mostly involve constantly slashing at huge groups of enemies where only a few of them attack you at once.

The bosses aren't really the highlight of Dead Rising... the highlight is being able to roam around a mall, picking up everything around you and killing hundreds upon thousands of the living dead. The bosses are completely optional anyways, you can even skip the entire story if you want to and get the Zombie Genocide achievement (53,XXX killed).

The convict psychopaths are pretty easy to avoid if you just keep running and roll out of the way if you see the headlights behind you.

"Proof?" Well, there is a game called Dead Rising on the 360, if you had played it you would have your proof. It takes only a slight bit of common sense to realize that a Wii version of the game is only going to be inferior and not going to be as rewarding of experience. What makes Dead Rising fantastic is the massive hoards of zombies. What's been shown so far is maybe 30 on screen at a time, even in the large areas. In Paradise Plaza alone you can stand up in the coffee shop and see at least a hundred in the demo of the 360 version.

I hate to say this but I don't want Capcom to release this game. It will only muddy people's experience of the game and give the 360 version a bad impression... if it wasn't underrated and under-appreciated enough already. Sure, it will be novel for those who don't own a 360 but it's hard to say that it will even be comparable if the numbers of zombies don't come close to matching the 360 version.

I would have messed myself if they had announced a PC port. DR with mods? Instant pant creaming.club-sandwich
I don't want DR on any other platform, it would kill me to see it becomemulti-platform. :( That's my most loved X360 game, omg this can't be happening. :(

I see what you did there...

Personally I can't wait to play that PS3 "exclusive" on my 360..... lol... poor poor cows.

[QUOTE="darth-pyschosis"]i used to own a 360 and deadrising

it was a good game i didn't beat however the save system frustrated me but i liked the idea behind it

the aiming was horrible most ppl agreed on this at least i thought

comparing the physics and AI in deadrising to HL2 is a lose lose.

and like i said 100 enemis on the PS2.

honestly, i never encountered any intelligent zombie in deadrising. its the number of zombies that makes you get hurt coz there are too many to avoid

the bosses, i don't remember any of them having complex AI i mean i just kept rolling to avoid the clown and such.

although running across the field while those guys on the truck (can't remember their names) were gunning me down was brutal. i always had trouble getting across the field to the other side of the mall during that.

come on dude, besides i really think deadrising isn't more advanced than half life 2. if you can provide proof than thats cool either way its a good game that more people can now enjoy and even if i never touch the wii verision it makes me happy that more people can see a good game like this.

it should make you happy too.

i mean i'm sure killing 56 zombies on a screen will be pretty satisfying even though it isn't 100 zombies ok?

and this always leaves the possiblity of frank chopping down zombie chumps with a hammer, or better yet,... the master sword!

if third person shooting controls aren't suppose to work any differently from deadrising with dual analog sticks why do MGS4, GTA4,Warhawk, controls respond better? but i suppose thats opinion.

why would it matter if there are more zombies on the screen yea thats cool but i mean, what makes the game cool is the funny ways you kill all of them and the big enviroment. i can't see any of that being compromised on Wii.

and besides, someone would take more enemies on screen over better controls? even if it was better controls on a 360 controller? lame

i mean this guy has real complaints about the wii version. fair complaints.

but no one should ever sacrifice good controls for something like more enemies, or better AI, coz controls can break the game. i've never seen a lack of enemies on the screen make someone say, "oh what a fail!"

i mean LAIR had plenty of enemies, what killed it? terrible controls

besides like i said if im wrong about everything i've said at least more ppl get to enjoy this game

Nope, played it at a friend's house just for the story. As soon as I get a 360 and a copy of the game for myself I will sit down and do everything... hopefully including the 7-day survival mode if I can manage it. And I probably enjoyed it more than you. :P I'm a zombie-survival fanatic and constantly contemplate what it would be like to actually go through something like an outbreak, so this game was right up my alley.

The controls work fine. I don't see how they can be improved in any way that would make it substantially better.

Why would it matter? Because it is far more satisfying to mow down a group of 50 zombies with a lawn mower than it is 15. The Wii version is going to be heavily compromised. There is NO way that the Wii could handle that amount of stuff on screen at one time... unless Capcom brought in some god of gaming that super-optimised the engine for the Wii to make it work. From the pictures released, it looks like it is already heavily compromised... not only that but it looks like ass to boot.

I would definitely take more enemies on screen with better graphics, physics and AI than questionably better waggle controls. I would rather be able to fulfill the sick person in me in a beautiful mall environment with tons of zombies than to waggle the Wiimote to do actions. Pushing buttons is as immersive as waggling a stick, it's just two different kinds of input for the same output.

Actually, what killed Lair was the fact that it was an incomplete mess that lagged to hell and was of absolutely terrible design. Dead Rising on the Wii would only be an inferior and incomplete experience, no matter how perfect they make the waggle work with it. I'd much rather play a better looking and playing game than shake a stick.

I used to be on the whole motion-control bandwagon but stopped after I realized waggle doesn't make games more fun... good game design makes games fun... and guess what made Dead Rising the most fun for me? Running down all the zombies in the parking garage with a car.

This reminds me a lot of the PS2 version of RE4. It looked nothing like it's GC and Wii counterparts and didn't come close to making it as fun. And even then it was the same basic game.

Let's just do a little comparo:

Wii:

360:

I wish I actually had the game and a 360 so I could make some good screencaps because there is nothing on the internet.

I don't bet, sorry. I doubt it will go past 7.5. It's an inferior version of an old game.
