This is a list of the most expensive games ever made. I am suprised at which ones were so expensive. Anyone else suprised by some of these?

"It [Halo 3] pretty much was, at a price of $55 million, which excludes over $200 million Microsoft spent promoting the game." :okillerfist
Same i find that a little baffling i mean it is a good game but when your pumping that kinda money in and theres games that have a scope just as large made cheaper makes me scratch my head lol.
I was pretty shocked MGS4 cost as mcuh tbh but it is a good game.

Umm No wonder look > "shared between Kojima Producitons and Sony." so Sony Invested on MGS4 that explains a lot
aniways i dint think GTA4 Cost that much and that dont include the Expansions that are = to 2 games
Shenmue is probably the best game on that list and most deserving of that sort of budget. Still quite staggering for when it came out.
I would actually consider almost all those games flops in terms of sales when it comes to the amount of money pumped in.

Three of them aren't even out, and GTAIV, FFXII, and Halo 3 sure as hell weren't flops. So, 6/10 game aren't flops, thus your opinion is fail.[QUOTE="Pixel-Pirate"]Three of them aren't even out, and GTAIV, FFXII, and Halo 3 sure as hell weren't flops. I'd consider having a near 300 million dollar budget (with advertising) and being unable to break 20 million to be a flop. Basically I think 300 million to make a game is insane.

thats like Avatar budget region and people were even WTFing bout it like omg the budget it massive.Imagine if it were for a gaame yikes imagine the hype for it in a sense.
No major surprises, other than "Wtf are shenmue and too human?" Guess that shows how unsuccessful those games were lol. I was surprised MW2 wasnt on there, makes it more impressive, I figured it was sorta an Avatar of videogames, hugely hyped massivee budget massive success games. it still had a large budget, but not top 10.
GT5 YOU GOT THIS 20 MIL TO BEATING GTA4. Give em another year or 2 and they got it
GT5 .... $80 million and rising. Wonder what it will be at when the game actually launches :PAnjunaddict
on top of the exclusive license for WRC and NASCAR, if they had also bought the exclusive license to Indy and added motorcycles i wouldn't be surprised if GT5 ended up costing $150 million and been delayed to 2012

Most people know Shenmue because it was a good game and had a great sequel. Most remember too human because it's recent.
