this is just crazy as powerful as the ps3 is the source engine that runs these games LAGS !!!!!!!!! LOL.

i find this really funny because any pc can run the source engine on high and its a 3 year old engine now with a few upgrades done to it.

Seriously this is just stupid, its not even a demanding engine, and don't say lazy developers and that kind of nonsense, because this engine is not demanding at all !!!!!!!! it just shows its hard to make games on.

Is this like that real credible article a few weeks back saying PS3 was delayed for Stranglehold? I'll believe it when I see it.

Ugh...is it out yet? They'll probably fix it before they release it. The PS3 is running on a completely different CPU compared to PCs. There's bound to be some problems -- which will hopefully be fixed.

Valve outsourced the game to EA, since they don't want to make games for the PS3 (or something similar).

This is no indication of how powerful the PS3 is, or how good Valve are as developers - it's just a side-effect of Sony's pre- PS3-launch arrogance (which, I'd assume, is the cause of Valve's hatred of Sony).

Hmm, a bit misleading headline, it doesn't say anything about bad framerates, but tells about it being released later due to a different dev. "Presumably the PS3 version is releasing later due to it being developed at EA rather than Valve Software." I don't really see anything weird about that, but I guess that could be called lag as well.

It probably will be perfectly fine come launch day. But yeah the source engine wasn't designed to use the Cell/RSX architechture so they would have to make lots of changes, unlike with 360's PC in a box design. There was also a recent interview saying they aren't using ANY of the SPUs.... so it's not like this has anything to do with power, just developement problems.

I suppose they havent optimized the Source Engine to work on the PS3 yet.It should be fine by the time it gets released

Well...ugh... no.. The RSX is essentially a 7800 GTX with the bit bandwidth cut in half (to 128-bit) and some tweaks with the memory. So it sorta was designed for the RSX, but not so much the Cell. You can't say anything about the 360 being a PC in a box design either because the Cell uses 1 PPC core + 6 SPEs, while the Xbox 360 uses 3 PPC cores. That's very hypocritical of you.

Good I hope it lags so much on the ps3 it's not even playable and f00ks up the machine. (waste of plastic)

"They" (Valve) are not working on it - the PS3 port has been outsourced to EA...who may or may not be able to optimise the game properly.

Wrong. Gabe Newell loves the Wii - it's his console of choice, apparently - and he recently stated that not having a Wii game in the works in a serious flaw in Valve's plan.

Two things about this thread. One, the topis is misleading and false. Two, the TC was so confident in his found story, he didn't even bother to go to the source of the story at IGN. Weak sauce.

thats cause source was created for PC and 360 if very similar to PC while PS3 isn't you have remake the engine for PS3 so no not PS3's fault kinda valve's fault for not realizing that and paying it alittle more attention to get it right

the bottom line is the ps3 has more than enough power to run this game fine without lag, and the engine is not very demanding.... seriously this engine is coming to 4 years old now.

Nothing really is,It's about time that Sony realises that they can't produce potentially powerful but awfully complicated hardware in their consoles,they might of gotten away with it in the ps2 (because they had a monopoly) but now that Microsoft is a real competitor this gen,who can blame developers for doing "Lazy" ps3 ports,why should they work overtime on the ps3 version when it doesn't even have the majority of the market share.

EA is developing the PS3 game. Now who do you think are the better developers, EA or Valve? Given the visual fidelity of games coming out this Fall for PS3, I'd say it's anything but the hardware's fault. On top of that we all know that games built for PC/360 architecture never port well to PS3, if the developer does not put enough effort into the port(FEAR). However when they do, the port can be very successful, Oblivion proved that.

People don't seem to know that the 360's processor is based on the PowerPC architecure. The source engine wasn't designed for that architecture either.

Why ppl think that the 360 and the PC have the same desing? The 360's three proccessor are the same as the ppe in the ps3. The both processors are based on the powerpc processor.

The video card in the 360 is not like the computer's video card. This card has only 10 MB of ram on the card and the rest is on the ram. While the ps3 has the same design as computer's video cards, where all the memory is on the video card.

So I dont understand why ppl think that the 360 and the PC are the same thing. Xbox 1 was pratically a PC u can run windows on it, but the 360 is not the same a PC.

it makes sense the PC they will have no problem to make the game, 360 will be a little work but not much because the 360 is like a computer and the ps3 is way differant. its understandable they need a little more time. and i also herd something about the 360 version running at 30fps and the ps3 at 60fps... but who knows if that was true
