SPOILERS if you haven't finished the game!
I just finished the main quest last night, and...wow. That's a weak story right there. I mean, antagonists that want...what? Why? Every quest is predicated on "having to stop Ranrok" or "having stop Rookwood" and the urgency is just not there.
The game-long promise that you needed to finish these trials from the Keepers to learn "the truth" about Ancient Magic only to learn... absolutely nothing? What is that power in the repository good for? Why is it any more useful than the Killing Curse? The ending had all the impact of a wet sock.
I hoped the relationship quests would be better, but as it stands the only companion's story I was even moderately invested in was Sebastian's, and even that felt half-baked. I would have loved a fleshed out companion system or relationships that change over the course of the game...ah, well.
Did anyone else like it? I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, so I was super excited going in, but I'd love to hear what the good folk of Gamespot think!
