God...Thats horrible! So, Home Flop confirmed? I would say no, it will be real popular with the casuals and the creepers, I mean did you really expect this to appeal to hardcore gamers?[QUOTE="CleanPlayer"]From what I've heard, people just chase girls and try to "hook up" with them. Pinkyimp
God...Thats horrible! So, Home Flop confirmed? No I wouldnt say that. People like me are not going to like it, (and probaly anyone who frequients these boards) I never played second life or any of those types of games, I have played MMO's but not any like this. I do not visit social networking sites like myspace, facebook so this type of game stile does not really appeal to meIts boring and is a real sausuage festÂ

LOL yeah you have a point. It is good in the way NXE or Wii channels or good. This isn't a game, it is a social networking system. If you like myspace or facebook, or even GS forums (you know you do :) ) then you are going to enjoy this. If you are looking for a game, move along.Shensolidus
Have you been in the NXE?

i agree that the only people who are going to spend an extensive amount of time in Home are going to be casuals who have a liking for Myspace, Facebook, and forums.. But i do believe that Home has something for the "hardcore" gamers aswell.. and that is game-specific game spaces.. the rooms that are designed by the devs to be meet up spots for fans of that particular game.. screenshots of rooms of this type have been shown for Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, Warhawk, Resistance, Socom, Far Cry, and more.. these can potentially be places where you meet, befriend, discuss, and game with other gamers who are fans of that particular game..
to me, this sounds awesome.. instead of going to the Socom forums on my PC, i can discuss the game within the PS3 Home space and actually launch into the game aswell with my new buddies seemlessly.. i think Home has alot of potential..

sounds good. I guess a good example is Im looking for someone to end Gears 2 with, and Instead of meeting someone in a forum I could just go to the lounge and ask around. Sounds good.
The character customization is pretty sick. I was able to make my guy look just like me (with the help of my wife of course). And the first thing I noticed was that nobody was fat. In fact, I ran around asking why nobody was fat. And I actually did run across a crowd of dudes dancing together in the mall chanting "sausage fest". I'm not a social gamer. I don't like myspace or facebook. I don't talk to people I don't know, unless I've interacted with them for a long time on a forum of some sort. I only game online with actual friends that I hang out with in the real world and the few forum friends I've come to know over the last couple of years. I have no interest meeting up with virtual people and "hanging out" in cyberspace. Â
That being said, do I see an appeal to Home? Certainly. I would use it as my own personal space that I can connect with my friends that own a PS3. It's innovative, especially the character customization. My main interest is to see how it ties into games, music and movies down the line. And I like having an avatar that looks just like me. My buddy is doing his as I write this. It's the virtual "us". No funnly little guys with big round heads and lego arms and feet. It just makes it so much more personal. And it's FREE. At least the download and basic stuff.Â
No matter where you go, there's always a group of people dancing...
In the movies? Dancing.
In the mall? Dancing
In the Central Plaza? Dancing
I haven't been anywhere else but I'm sure dancing is freakin' everywhere lol.
It's alright. But it can get boring quick if you have no friends to hang with.
Remember how in GTA IV you could go bowling, play pool, watch a show, and play arcades, it's kinda like that but you're doing those things with real people. It's fun for a minute or two but it becomes boring fast. They need to open more bowling lanes and have more arcades because you have to wait your turn. I don't think it really enhances the PSN experience. You're better off inserting your disc and go straight to the point and start playing and meet your friends in the game instead of getting distracted by people dancing.
The things in Home are nice to look at, your Avatar is very customizable, and you have a nice set of expressions, one of them lets you say "I have no headset". Home is good for people that likes to waste time, goof around, and likes watching ads. But in the end I don't think it enhances the PSN experience.Â
If gaming is your priority then Home is not for you, but if you like socializing more then Home is for you.
Oh yeah if you have a female Avatar or you're close to a female Avatar you'll witness male Avatars asking "are you really a girl?" which I think is pretty pathetic and funny lol. Also Home is home for the annoying, ignorant, racist, people playing their music loud, and brings out the worst from the "mature" PSN community.

It's pretty cool, but it will be much cooler when all the features launch.
I think people need to be realistic about what it is...a 3D social tool. If you are expecting a time consuming game, you will be disappointed. If you know exactly what it is then you will probably enjoy it. Just level your expectations out.
I actually think once word gets out and the PS3 gets a price cut that Home could actually be a system seller, Especially if they keep on improving it. I know I will like it because I liked the NXE a lot and i like the whole avatar idea so im definitly looking forward to home and think it will be a big hitCODjon84
I think it is pretty cool, nothing that is gonna make someone go out and buy a PS3 though.
Don't listen to any of these noobs, I've been beta testing for a year and I'll tell you the full story:
-When I first got home a year ago, the state it was in was very basic. It had the stuff like bowling the a basic theater, and putting stuff in your apartment. The graphics were decent but there wasn't really anything in home that was useful.
-We eventually got photo frames but for some reason they decided to discontinue those. They also are probably not going to have the TV showing stuff from your HDD or even a boombox that streams music from your HDD.
-Eventually we got game launching and tested that out. That was potentially useful but back then all it did was take us to the home page of the game           -Soon after, we got the home mall where we could buy certain things
-And now the current state of home: Home now is pretty advanced compared to the previous homes, the graphics are better. The load times are better, the framerate is better, it's basically polished in every way. In terms of games it's still not VERY far advanced and the content hasn't changed much. The game lauching has improved that, at least with warhawk, you can gamelaunch straight to a multiplayer game and then go straight back to home when you're done. They actually have a much more cohesive experience.Â
Home still needs improvement but it's coming along very well
I dont see Home being a system seller. Who outside of the Hardcore gamers even know about home? Or care? IIJuggaNottII
Once the PS3 gets in the $300.00 or less price ragne a lot of casuals like the myspace crowd will buy it for home.. It will take time yes, it will be a word of mouth thing and its free.. Look how big Myspace turned out and a HUGE part of that is because it was free. I remember when people said Myspace was just a fad and would die in a month and wasnt going anywhere, well we all know how that turned out. It will take time but Home will bring A LOT of casuals to the PS3.. If i already didnt own one id buy it for Home

Home is hardly a hardcore thing. I've seen some very non-hardcore gamers there.
Exactly! A lot of girls will be interested also, heck girls that even claim they hate Video games might even dig it.Please Log In to post.
