So i've been messing around in Home for 3 days now and all i can say is...send it back. Home is a mess. Everything from getting to gether with friends to actually find something fun to do with friends is poorly implemented. Home also has one HUGE flaw, besides everything being disjointed(loading up a totally seperate app) and having to load up every space you go to, Home is boring.
Let me tell you what what guy said to me when i asked "what is there to do that's fun?" he said"socialize"..."really, socialize. That's it?"..."No, you can also go to the arcade and...you know, NXE SUCKS". Yes, i'm not even joking, that was the conversation. So what i found out was that the funnest thing to do in Home was socialize instead of playing games:roll: and that the arcade is fun. So i went over to the arcade...WOW, talk about lifeless. Just the atmosphere alone said this would be boring. First tryed out pool, played by myself for alittle bit...bored, someone joined, he was taking forever every turn...bored, left. Went to bowl(which was the definitely the most popular), found an open seat...bowled,strike...bored, left. When to play arcade games and wow, those sucked so i left the arcade area all together. I looked around saw the mall, went to the mall, couldn't buy anything, left. Theatre look nice but wait there just trailers, nothing more.
So after all that excitement--i opened up my menu and wow. There are a lot of features. These feature are probably what one would call the bee's knees. Not as good as NXE(besides the clan thing) but its pretty dang close. To be honest with you, i think i spent more time in the menus then i did roaming around in the actually Home space.
Now if sony didn't lock themselves in this predicament by announcing this at GDC 06(what were they thinking) and getting everyone all excited I think it would be easier for them to fix this very simple problem. All they'd have to do is move the great features(which are technically free) of Home from Home and merge it in to the XMB. With the XMB's sleek design and ease of use coupled with the robust features of Home Ps3 would be undoubtably the definitive online platform.
