So i've been messing around in Home for 3 days now and all i can say is...send it back. Home is a mess. Everything from getting to gether with friends to actually find something fun to do with friends is poorly implemented. Home also has one HUGE flaw, besides everything being disjointed(loading up a totally seperate app) and having to load up every space you go to, Home is boring.

Let me tell you what what guy said to me when i asked "what is there to do that's fun?" he said"socialize"..."really, socialize. That's it?"..."No, you can also go to the arcade and...you know, NXE SUCKS". Yes, i'm not even joking, that was the conversation. So what i found out was that the funnest thing to do in Home was socialize instead of playing games:roll: and that the arcade is fun. So i went over to the arcade...WOW, talk about lifeless. Just the atmosphere alone said this would be boring. First tryed out pool, played by myself for alittle bit...bored, someone joined, he was taking forever every turn...bored, left. Went to bowl(which was the definitely the most popular), found an open seat...bowled,strike...bored, left. When to play arcade games and wow, those sucked so i left the arcade area all together. I looked around saw the mall, went to the mall, couldn't buy anything, left. Theatre look nice but wait there just trailers, nothing more.

So after all that excitement--i opened up my menu and wow. There are a lot of features. These feature are probably what one would call the bee's knees. Not as good as NXE(besides the clan thing) but its pretty dang close. To be honest with you, i think i spent more time in the menus then i did roaming around in the actually Home space.

Now if sony didn't lock themselves in this predicament by announcing this at GDC 06(what were they thinking) and getting everyone all excited I think it would be easier for them to fix this very simple problem. All they'd have to do is move the great features(which are technically free) of Home from Home and merge it in to the XMB. With the XMB's sleek design and ease of use coupled with the robust features of Home Ps3 would be undoubtably the definitive online platform.

In before the "its just beta" comments.

Anyway, yeah I wish they focused on the actually PSN and XMB interface more than the virtual snooze fest called Home.

Not for everyone. I think the club feature and the 'game invite above your head feature' are really cool. Home will grow into something very special overtime IMO. But I like socializing. That's why I'm on a forum :|.

It would be pretty cool to make a System Wars Club :D. But we'd have to make multiple ones since the max member cap is 32. Besides that, I look forward to using Home, especially with you and Markie :P.

I dont know why people give Home so much negative feedback. Home is what Sony said it was going to be. What did people expect it to be? The people in System Wars hyped Home to the stars.

That would be sooo tight. SW Club FTW! I see nothing wrong with socializing and community being the biggest aspect of Home. It's not a game after all. I think you have to make friends and roam around Home with people you know in order for it to be a better experience. When Sony adds video and music streaming I think it will be even better :).

My thoughts excatly. It offers just enough features that affect our actual games while providing a virtual world for the PSN community to grow in a way that unique only to PSN. I mean... we are socializing RIGHT NOW. Wouldn't it be pretty cool to do so in a virtual world with our friends? Or is that lame now :(.

Home has potential that can revolutionize the way we interact in video gaming virtual spaces.  I don't see anything wrong with people hyping Home to the moon.  Just aslong they keep it in System Wars, so when Home finally launches for everyone and deliver the goods, they can be proud and say, I told you so.

I'm pretty sure theres a limit don't know about the rest of the questions though. I just wanted people to experience Home for themselves instead of just going off of my interpretation.

Socializing in games is already available on PS3. Home is just a social extension unlike anything on consoles. You say "isn't PS3 for games first"... 2 AAAE and 1 AAAAE in one year is amazing :). No console has ever achieved such a feat. Especially while also greatly expanding its online community /infrastructure. Take into account that Sony just got into the online game mostly this gen. The progress they have made in the past two years is astounding. Everything won't come overnight.

Home and socializing is cool but since 90% of the population are cornballs, I am good off of Home. No one has normal convos. The first thing they ask are how old are you? or where you from? Whatever happen to the word HI? I can't tell you how many people I just turned my back and walked away from because they were just weird. I really do hope that Home turns into something amazing but until then I will not be using it and regretting that they didn't improve on the XMB.

There kinda different. NXE: Get with a few(probably 3) friends and hop from game to game. Home: Host a game(think lobby) for a specified game. Then people can join all they want or you and your friends can jump in to it only. The only game that works right now is Warhawk(but this is still a beta) and that can host a 32 player lobby. Once your done you and only you leave the party and are loaded back into Home. So its kinda disjointed(but again, it is a beta)

Oh man Home is a mess.  Sure it's fun making the ugliest girl I can and dancing with others to rap music, but after that, it's pretty lame.  Lol.  I'm going to sleep.  I'll dance around tomorrow and I'll post pics of my Home Avatar.

I played it yesterday and it was just dull, there is nothing to do.

Another major flaw is that the PS3 doesn't come with a mike, so most people don't have them. that just ruins the social side of it.

I'm with you, honestly. In its defense, I could say it's the best free application that I've spent one week trying out (this is way back when Home first opened ;)). Other than that, I've got better things to do with my PS3. This actually reminds me of a joke I once heard about Home: the only place where people talk about games in their respective spaces instead of actually playing said game (I think it was Game Informer...not quite sure).

I bought a PS3 to play games, Home is not a game.

How about checking the date of a thread before answering it?

you have 2 options then you could either just not use it or you could waste you time complaining about it on a gaming forum.

The people that do play on Home do it religiously. They are on Home 24/7 "socializing" kind of like an emoat the mall. They are decked out in Avatar gear that they had to pay for, and they are usually flirting with virtual girls (which are really guys). And judging by their elementary conversational skills, they are usually preteens or middle-schoolers.

I was actually on Home yesterday and saw some guy decked out with light up shoes, a fish tank on his head, a shirt with a video playing on it, etc. I LOL'ed and walked away.

If Home was more streamlined and you didnt have to load practically everything all the time, it would be more fun, kind of like a MMOG
