Now I know that Motorstorm and Gears are completly 2 different genres. BUT im just tired of hearing reviewers complain that Motorstorm is shallow when Gears is just as shallow. I mean think about it. Gears has only 10 very small maps, with only a handfull of weapons, no vehicles online whatsoever and is pretty much the same thing over and over again. Motorstorm is a racer with 8 very huge maps,WIDE variety of vehicles everything from dump trucks, to muscle cars and Dirt bikes, With 12 people online at once with full voice chat. And honestly, I dont see why everyone is bragging that Gears has 10 maps when people only play 3 of those maps over and over again. I mean seriously, everytime I get online, The only maps I see people play is Canals, Gridlock and mansion. I hardly ever see War maching, tyro station, rooftops, clocktower etc. Not only that but the campaign for gears is very shallow that only lasts 8 hours and very linear. Im not bad mouthing either game, Im just saying that these reveiwers should hear of the old saying that goes "the pot calling the kettle black" because gears is just as shallow
And the fact that Gears has a great SP kind of destroys the argument of the game being "shallow" (although I'm still not quite sure what you mean by that).

He compared it decently well his whole "people only play a certain amount of maps" is completely untrue since most players cycle to every map in the game.

Anyways I read your post... and frankly you still can't compare a shooter to a racer, it's just not done.
Motorstorm is okay but it didn't get make me want it, though the demo. I didn't think much of Gears, till I played it, Its great. I don't think its shallow, I am not a big racing fan, so I find those games shallow except Burnout.
Motorstorm is a racer. Gears of War is an atmospheric shooter with interesting dialogue and a level/story based singleplayer campaign. It's singleplayer and multiplayer are completely different experiences. The MP was not even the area the developer focused on the most. UT3 is Epics flagship MP game and I dare you to compare that to Motorstorm when it comes out.

Heard of de_dust2, cs_office, de_aztec... ? I can't believe I am defending GeOW here, but there is nothing wrong with "a few maps". Gamers found what worked and stick with it. It just like baseball, football .... have always been play the same way since forever.
I never expected MotorStorm are anything "deep". It it what it is, a arcade racing games, fun while it last, play it, enjoy it then moving on. I would be very surprise if people still talking about MotorStorm one year from now.
Yea you can compare the MP of both games because they can be equally shallow but the difference is Gears actually has a single player where motorstorm is the exact same thing you play in MP
I know you weren't trying to bash Gears, and I think that reviewers can call any game shallow, it's an oppinion. Some think Gears is shallow, and that's ok with me, it's their oppinion, I personally loved the game, and I think I will love Motorstorm as well. Reviewers also have their own oppinion, and if you don't agree, weeeell, you don't have to, that's the beauty of personal oppinion.

1. what other weapons would YOU like to see? i frankly find the ones that they have already to be great enough, does it need 34235 different types of essentially the same rifle like in GRAW?....no
2.Maps= be logical about this part and host a match yourself and pick maps that YOU want to play in, and have you ever heard of something we like to call downloadable content? and why would we want to have more than 8 people in a game that is supposed to be stragetic and require teamwork, and that is a "stop and pop" not a "run and gun".
3. SP= uhh racing a car or dump truck would seem to get pretty boring after a while, how would gears be linear? usually you dont have the option of taking different paths in a game thus splitting up with your CO-OP partner, or taking out huge boses at the end of the acts.

Some kid broke his nose and I remember after the show the "pit" having plenty of blood on the floor.
The standard in shooters these days is a relatively short campaign with a great online experience. Racers, however, are supposed to be filled with hundreds of tracks to last you hundreds of hours. In comparison to a game like Gears of War, it shouldn't take a devastating amount of time to give the game a few more tracks.
