Honestly, How Many Here Thought that the PSP would Dominate?

I thought it would be the next big thing to gaming and that the DS had no chance against it.

What did everyone else think?

I think everybody thought that, i was one of the few who got a DS at launch, everyone else got a PSP and just laughed at me, o, guess whos laughing now.

I thought it was going to be a very hard time for Nintendo DS to compete with the PSP.

I was expecting the DS to be too gimmicky to last long. Turned out most good games don't really use the touch screen that much.

Same here. Even now a boast about it.  Although inside,,  I really want a psp..

when i first saw psp i said nintendo was doomed now seeing how great ds is i was shocked i have both psp is untouched for months ds is played amlost evey day

i thought psp would just OWN ds. it looked MILES better. lately, psp has been dead and no one seems to care

I did, I was a litttle surprised when it was released that there were literally stacks of them at GS and EB, I probably would have tried harder to get my hands on one if I didn't think it would be easy to buy whenever I wanted.

I knew it would fail at dethroning Nintendo when it was first revealed. Too expensive, games are too expensive, bad battery life, durability issues, terrible analogue nub, memory sticks are inconvenient for portable gaming, ect.That being said, there are still some great games on PSP and I will be getting one.

I really did think that the PSP would win also.  I figured the large screen would make a huge splash.

It was pretty split when it came to that. Half this board consisted of sheep, a bunch of cows, and then maybe a few lemmings.

I kind of did. But I still love my PSP and some good games have come out for. MGS:PO, Ratchet clank, Vice city. Im really only keeping my PCP for crysis core. But if that game is a bust then Im going to sell it. Currently I have no games for my PSP.

To be honest I was really worried the psp was going to crush the ds because of the graphics, but I just kept looking at the ds lineup and I knew it would still sell well. Then the ds started dominating, so all my worries went away.

(Slowly raises hand) Yes I did, Even tho I loved mostly all of the Nintendo handhelds. I was also worried about Nintendo at the time for alot of reasons and also worried that Sony could win control of the two markets.

I must admit that I did. When I was deciding which one to get the DS ws the original big clunky one that looked like a cheap toy and obvioulsy the graphics were poor and there were no games on it that looked any good. So naturally I went for the PSP. Then they realeased the sexier DS lite version and started targeting the parents with all the adverts for the brain age games and the girls with the Nintendogs adverts and it really took off.

I was expecting the DS to be another gameboy (highly successful and affordable) and I thought the psp would be successful as well (a little more than it is now).

I did. I remember how much love the PSP got and how much hate the DS got. I still love my PSP though.

Well the clunky original DS was garbage, the DS lite is amazing.  I bought my PSP when the clunky DS was out, now I'm trying to save up a couple extra bucks for a DS Lite, Diddy Kong Racing, and New Super Mario Bros.

I knew Nintendo would beat out the PSP because people like to try new things. Also, the GBA backwards capabiliy made me confident that the DS userbase would surpass the PSPs by a larg margin due to the kid market. That said, I also knew that Nintendo would drive the system with strong software that wasnt just aimed at kids. I love the DS, and I like the PSP. But for the time and money spent, the DS is greater than the PSP.

Well lets see, apart from the cheap price, all what the DS has is the touch screen... wow. The reason of the price of the PSP is that we are paying for the quality and most of you who complain just don't see that and are bias to the system.

The DS was the ugliest piece of crap and the PSP was funky im sure the majority thought the PSP would win.
