Hot Pursuit demo-pretty rubbish

Just played the new Hot Pursuit demo and wow they've really screwed this one up. The cars feel like you're driving a brick and the power sliding mechanics are terrible. I'm surprised the makers of Burnout can't make a good Need for Speed. The graphics are pretty aweful as well, the track and environment looks like a high res PS2 game.

I agree. This kind of box type cars were ok with the first two games but I find it annoying nowadays. I was expecting something between Prostreet and Shift physics and handling just leaving some factors like damage extremely arcadey because of the theme of the game. I'm disapointed with this one. Maybe if it has a wacky story mode like Most Wanted, since that game had kinda the same problem but I loved anyways just for the story mode. If it's like Undercover, hell no. I'll have to wait and see.

i didn't like that there were no cops chasing me in the racingpart but other than that thought the chasing guys part was a blast.

it's just an arcade game i don't expect much other than to be fun. i will probably get it and basically what my expectation is is to have something to occupy my racing itch until dirt 3 comes out in the spring.

Yeah i wasn't to impressed either... And no local multy sucks bad too =(

And crashes aren't even nearly as awsome as in Burnout Paradise... Seriously, they just should have taken Burnout Paradise and put cops in...

I loved the demo. It's the first NFS game I plan on purchasing since Underground 2.

The gameplay videos made the game seem waaaay too much like Burnout. Powersliding and boosting through all the turns and running into guardrails instead of actually turning. I have yet to try the demo, but I imagine I'll be disappointed. I was expecting a return to real NFS games.

I hated the physics too. It's as if they wanted to make it feel more realistic but ran out of time and ended up giving cars 3 weeks of steering lag.

They should make NSF U3 and go back to the nice formula of mid last gen.

i wantsa true sequel to Hot pursuit 2. Remove the nitrous rubbish, take out the flimsy damage. Gimme all out cop pursuits and high speed races with goiod handling

Yes, as a long time NFS fan and someone who loved the old Hot Pursuit games from back in the day it was a real disappointment. Cars handled horribly, you barely moved the stick and off you go into the wall. Graphics sucked, I swear NFS Hot Pursuit 2 on PS2 looked better :? Ok, maybe it's not that bad, but still... visually, this demo is not impressive at all. I remember a thread here a while back where someone was touting this game's graphics and saying it would look better than Forza 3... haha I don't think so

But anyway, if it would've actually been fun to play I wouldn't even really care about the graphics, but it just sucked. I still have the game preordered but I'll definitely be canceling it when I head down to Gamestop tomorrow.

I've always enjoyed games by Criterion, every title has been an improvement on the last, but this just feels like a step backwards.Flatbattery

Man, I remember getting this game with the Gateway PC my Mom bought for me back in 98. Those were epic times.

4MB Riva 128 video card. Man that was so crazy.

Then I got Half-Life and I was blown out of my chair through the ceiling.

Felt like Burnout with more structure.

I liked it.

I got instantly addicted to the game, I was a NFS fan until Prostreetbut this game will be amazing. It feels like Midnight Club LA but more intense and had more sense of speed, and I loved Midnight Club LA. Although I do find the driving a bit heavy, it'll just take time to get used to it.

Burnout was a good game... even Paradise even though I hate that game.... this NFS on the other hand is crap at least imo. Game runs at 30 FPS yet look worse than Paradise, and the the cars feel like I'm driving a tank. Some of my friends did like it, but I'm still skeptical after playing the demo.

Seriously I think Burnout Paradise is much better than Hot Pursuit.. The real speed only does in Burnout Paradise, and none of this game has done that yet. Pretty disappointed with Burnout developer and guess I will have to stick with Burnout until next Burnout series.

Yep, this game will be a "love it or hate it" game like Assassin's Creed or Bioshock.

Yep. THis is nothing like the need for speed i wanted. All this drifting nonsense really piss me off. You dont even need to brake to make hard turns just drift around them. I dont think i'll be buying this game until its in the bargain bin. Such a disappointment

Despite not playing any NfS game beside a couple demos, I decided to try this since I loving Burnout Paradise. Pretty cool that you get to also play as a cop, but I am not sure if it just the car I tried but the steering doesn't seem to be good and stiff (whenever I tried to turn I just hit into the side rails), but I will hold that comment off until I try all the cars in the demo. Graphics I guess looks as good as Burnout: Paradise, through doesn't have the amount of the sense of speed Paradise has.
