Hour long developer Interview God of War Ascension/New Footage

Some pretty cool stuff here and new footage. I have to say, I'm quite intrigued with the mp...when I didn't think I would be.

A few things to note from the video for those who don't feel like listening:

• Single Player is bread and butter of GOW, it will not be compromised.
• MP influenced by fighters and titles like Power Stone. Not tacked on.
• A more human story of Kratos, he will not go around hugging people but gamers will see more of his ambition and what drives him.

• Evolving the tech and game mechanics in the franchise.

So.. Really nothing new. I would still have prefered a new IP instead of just more of "HULK SMASH" story.danish-death

Funny you mentioned Hulk. Todd Pappy describes Kratos as Hulk in Supermans body :D And I would argue that the team is doing plenty new things with the series to justify another entry. But I hear your concern, you want a new game from SSM and guess what? They have a 2nd team working on a new IP with stig asmussen, the director of GOWIII. Everyone wins!

TBH the story of Kratos really isn't deep. He was tricked into murdering his family and do Ares bidding until he decided to go nuts and kill everything. Oh yeah and Zeus is his father. That's it. A single MGS game has more story than all current GOW games combined and yet they're trying to somehow elaborate on something nobody wanted? Meh..

But I guess you're right. If they have a second team making something else/a new IP I suppose we all win. I'm just burned out on GOW and had hoped that Sony would've waited with a new game until the PS4.

Awesome I love playing as General Kratos in God of War II.

i don't know why people are so up-in-arms thinking the MP will somehow affect the SP.

seriously people, have you ever considered that maybe, just maybe, Santa Monica hired MORE people instead of dividing the work to current members?

God Of War 1 was made by 50 people, God Of War 2 made by 70 people, and from those, some went to work on the new engine for God Of War 3 after they made GOW1. these guys also helped make Twisted Metal, Starhawk, the PixelJunk games, the newly-released Datura, they housed in devs like SuperBot (PS All Stars Battle Royale) and thatgamecompany (Journey, Flower, flOw), etc.

and somehow, people think "oh noes single player will be bad now because of MP!". good lord, i mean good zeus.! we all now know there's another game being developed by Santa Monica and it's maybe for next gen already.

uhhh..Uncharted? Killzone?

i can't wait for E3 when SM shows off the SP and you eventually will shut up.

Ninja Gaiden, Mass Effect =/= God Of War

SP won't be compromised? I believe it when I see it.

Especially since the SP hasn't even been shown yet. Right now all we've seen is multiplayer. That's certainly not a good sign.
