How are there too many Halo games/How is MS milking Halo whereas MGS isn't?

I don't understand why so many people are saying there are so many halo games and how MS is milking it.There have only been 2 halo games this gen. Why don't we look at Metal Gear Solid? If anything, theres a new metal gear solid every time you turn around. All of the games in that series (other than 4) been ported, remade, and given expansions a million times. Seriously, MGS has been on the SNES, GBA, PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP, GameCube, Xbox, PC, and its coming to 360 soon.

And Microsoft only has the 360 whereas Sony has PS3 and PSP. So think about it. Theres halo 3 and metal gear solid 4. Then theres halo wars. And metal gear solid series has metal gear solid portable ops. So it evens out. And they even expanded on portal ops with PO+ to cash in on the game. And with halo ODST coming out, MGS has got Rising. And for Halo: Reach (which is the final halo game because they know when to end a respectable series) there is Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker. And they've got Metal Gear Solid Touch coming out for the iPhone. Now Metal Gear Solid is a series that is really getting milked.

And if you look at the scores, Halo is a better franchise. Metal Gear Solid 1 got a score of 8.5. That's a "great". Halo 1 came out to a 9.7 and is hailed as the one of the greatest shooters of all time. Halo 2 got a 9.4 and MGS 2 got a 9.6, very close scores, but MGS2 was better. Halo 3 recieved a 9.5 and MGS 3 got a 8.7. Halo ODST hasn't come out yet so I'll leave that out and just do an average of the first 3 halos, and don't mention Halo Wars because I could mention a lot of very low scoring MGS games. got a 9.5 and MGS4 got a 10. MGS may have gotten some good scores, but at least Halo is consistant. And if you get the overall percentage for the Halo sereis (1,2,3) its average is 9.5. The 4 MGS games average to a 9.2 average. So that means Halo is coming out with better games, while MGS is coming out with many more games, more often, and Reach is the final Halo but MGS is going to keep on going, and the Halo games are of better quality than MGS games. And Halo gets many novels and even a short animated series for its story, while MGS only gets two comic books for the PSP.

There are 10 Halo games in total and that includes ports and expansions and upcoming games reach and odst. Now if you look at Metal Gear Solid there are about 28. That's right, twenty-eight games. There is a constant flow of MGS games with all the sides games and whatnot.

Sure MGS is milkage, but it's been around a lot longer then Halo.

Milking talk seems to come into play when there are multiple releases in the same year , or quality is dropping. Heck , Insomniac was considered to be milking Ratchet once a year ..... and then they went every other year and it's still milking. *shrugs*

Yeah MGS has been around a long time, and every new one tends to completely change and revamp previously established notions, plus its usually 3-4 years before a new MGS comes out after the last. Halo is more like 2-3, and aside from being newer Halo 2 did a vast change over 1, but 3 seemed to have mostly made graphics better nad added a bunch of new weapons. Not like its a bad thing to have more of what you love.

Everyone's agreeing with you, MGS is milked...and MG is much, much older than Halo. Halo was created years later.

Both are milked, but MG is milked more. That's it.

If you look at Halo since Halo 3, we are getting Halo Wars, Halo 3:ODST, and Halo Reach all within 2 years. That's why folks are up in arms, BUT it's not as bad as MG, but why choose MG?

Why not WOW, Pokemon, Madden, or Mario Party?

About the Scores.
MGS is a stealth series, and Halo is a FPS sereis.
Because they are different genres you cannot compare scores directly.
Also, the first 3 MGS games had awful camera angles, which I'm sure lowered the score.

Anyway 10 Halo games in 8 years, and 28 MG games in 22 years

If Halo lives on for another 12 years (and we all know it will) I wouldn't be surprised to see it hit the 20+ games range.

You can use that logic for any game. why didnt you point out any of EA's/Activisions Milkiage (GH,COD,NFL,NBA,FIFA)?. Im gonna admit that ive only played the first 2 Halo's so i could only say that the first 2 were similar (from what i heard from yahtzee's review the formula hasnt changed in the 3rd). In fact i say that the FPS hasnt changed since its INCEPTION whereas Metal Gear Solid has changed over the years.I mean you cant really compare MGS1 to MGS4 theyre completley different experiances (to me)

I mean they didnt even fix the AI driving in Halo. Now dont get me wrong the Halo games are still good games, its just that they dont change much. To me milkage is fine as long as they try making the game different from its prequels

The Halo series is about 8 years old, whilst the Metal Gear franchise is 20 years old already.

It's natural that there are plenty of more Metal Gear titles, counting the spin-offs, etc.

Also, there is not that much more Metal Gear titles out there. The main series is still in it's 6th title if you count the two first Metal Gears (which were not of the Solid series) even after so much time.

I hate to break it to you but MGS started on the PS1. Metal Gear's been around since the NES era(it was on a system before then, can't remember which). MGS is different than the old MG. I'm surprised no one's said anything so far. And when I talk about game series I only count ones in the main series. So MGS has 4 right now and when Halo OSDT(?) comes out Halo will have 4 also. I don't count spin off like Halo Wars. Just like when people ***** about Mario being in like 200 games, I only could the main ones. NES: Mario 1, 2, 3 - SNES: SMW, SMW2 - N64: M64 - GCN: MS - Wii: SMG so thats 8 main Mario's on consoles if I didn't miss one. And I don't include handhelds when I talk about consoles. GH is the only game series that seems milked to me. They got like 10 games coming out this year >.>

Firstly, MGS is made by Konami and it's up to them how many games get made and for which consoles (See MGS2 & MGS Rising). Secondly in what way does MGS4 play like movie? Because I seem to remember cutscenes in between gameplay like most games out there.
