I must admit, ever since I bought the Wii, I haven't been much of a gamer. Though the Wii was pretty good, compared to past Nintendo systems, it was kind of a let down for me. For Wii 2, I think Nintendo might be able to do a much better job in terms of games of very high quality, if given that their hardware is able to compete with top of the line gaming systems. I had long thought that games like Zelda would be much better suited for hardwares at the top of the line quality because Zelda/Mario/Metroidare the kinds of games that sets new standards for gaming, period. That's why I think if Nintendo does release a high end hardware, even if the sales are bad with the casual consumers, they could potentially set new gaming standards once again. If they do, they might just have a game that can be called the "Ocarina of Time of our era".

It would certainly held add a sense of grand epicness that the series used to have :/ Link to the Past felt like a large alive world, Ocarina of Time was the first true adventure into a large 3d world, but it hasn't really progressed from there, Twilight Princess feels small and guided. Yay I'm saving the world.... one small loaded area at a time.... against like 2 enemies.

I think Windwaker was quite a good evolution, the world was, or at least felt, huge and epic, but I agree with you about TP, very little different from N64 style fighting 2 dudes in Hyrule Field :P

Yeah windwaker was sweet :D

Hyrule field is so disappointing lol, it used to feel all grand and epic, but even last gen with games like Morrowind and KOTOR, it feels really archaic, games like fallout, oblivion, RDR, and assassins creed this gen have it looking completely fossilized :P

I like my Wii, a lot.

But I would change the WiiMote anyday for HD versions of Skyward Sword, MP3, Mario Galaxy, etc.

Just look that pic of WW, it's so beautiful

He's talking about "Zelda HD", which I'm taking to mean next gen Zelda, not SS. As for Skyward Sword, if PS2 can do San Andreas and XBox 1 can do Morrowwind, then surely it's not mad to ask Wii to do a big game world too?

That sounds nothing like Zelda. I think it's better than each of those series keeps their indentity instead of trying to be something they aren't.

How is expanding and improving existing game mechanics losing it's identity?

For example, crazyamounts of enemies like Dead Rising. Zelda is not brawler/H&S, the combat has nothing to do with large crowds. It's a completely different take on combat that has nothing to do with the series.

If you "expand and improve" too much, you eventually enter in a different category.

Not saying turn it into God Of War. Keep things the same, just bigger with more stuff happening. Maybe Ganon can finally have that "army of darkness" he always claiming to have :P 100+ moblins laying siege to Hyrule Castle, firing arrows, manning catapults, etc would be kewl. Give Link some bad ass magic and weapons to deal with crowds. What about that sword spin attack he's had since SNES, that I don't think I have ever needed in any Zelda game ever, since I've never been surrounded? Ah well, just different opinions I guess.

See? Neither the camera, nor the controls (nor the etc etc etc!) of Zelda are built for that kind of combat. You would have to change the core gameplay, proving my point of losing its identity >:

But they are not built for crowed combat (which I already said). They work for fighting 2-3 enemies at the same time, no more.

My argument isthe nature of the series and what the core gameplay was designed for. Yours is "I disagree".

I suppose that's all, isn't it?

Well you pointed out what you think the series is and has to be anyway ;) I disagree with the controls not working for bigger areas and crowds, I think it'd be fine. As a long time Zelda fan I have a differnt view from you, it's no biggie :)

"Thinking" would imply something subjective, but that's not the case. Not a single Zelda game has feature crowded combat. That's not subjective nor up to discussion, that's a fact. That's what the series is (or better said, isn't).

That sounds absolutely horrible. That would lose so much of what Zelda games are, and how different they are from other franchises. Im glad Nintendo hardly listens to its fans. They want more of whats out their and less of whats good.

Yeah that's what it is, not what it always has to be. That'd be boring if it never shook things up. before Windwaker there was never a Zelda with a giant sea to sail around in. But omg! They introduced something new and it was awesome :D

The giant see only served as replacement of Hyrule fields. The core gameplay mechanic (travelling to/exploring different towns/regions in a larger overworld) was basically the same.

Not really, hyrule field was a smallish central hub with lots of other areas off it. Whereas the open sea was the whole world dotted with lots of little islands. Anyway, not much point continuing this, you obviously dislike my idea for new Zelda, and you're lucky since Ninty probably won't ever make my ideal Zelda anyway :(

[QUOTE="locopatho"]I want the game to open up. TP was too small and sterile and PS2ish. Gimme massive Assassin's Creed style cities and crowds of people, Oblivion style massive countryside (smaller and less copy pasted ideally), lots more weapons, items, magic, horses, sidequests, etc. How bout some massive battles like Kameo's Orcs vs Elves? How about crazy amounts of enemies on screen like Dead Rising? How about cool physics puzzles like half life? How about great AI? How about HD graphics and orchestra soundtrack? Come on Nintendo, you blew my mind Link to the Past, you blew it again with Ocarina, scared me with Majora (tho I now love it), blew it again with Windwaker, kinda lost me with TP, lets get back on track baby 8)locopatho

That sounds absolutely horrible. That would lose so much of what Zelda games are, and how different they are from other franchises. Im glad Nintendo hardly listens to its fans. They want more of whats out their and less of whats good.

Why is a bigger and better Zelda bad? It'd be better then TP anyway :P

Majoras Mas was bigger and better than Oot without any gimicks...They made things more condensed and detailed rather than big and pointless (cough cough, Assassins Creed...) Nintendo never repeats the same Zelda twice. I would much rather have a Zelda with the same charm, and excellent progression/gameplay than some generic wannabe.

God of War or Darksiders is a game more for you're taste.

Why are suggesting small hack and slash games when I'm hoping for a big Zelda game? I didn't exactly suggest Link hang out with da Vinci, I was talking about having a city bigger then two tiny screens and villages bigger then 5 shacks and 3 people....

because it sounds like you're trying to shoehorn dynasty warriors into zelda.

You are taking me too literal. I was just givng you examples, not accusing you of calling it a hack n slash....And you dont just want things "bigger" you want basically everything Zelda is but different...How would that make a zelda game? It would be like some re-boot.

What's different? Zelda games have cities, I want bigger ones. Zelda games have weapons, armours/tunics, items, magic spells, I want more ones. Zelda games have a horse, I'd like a choice between a few. Zelda games have sidequests like Biggorons sword, I want more. Zelda games have puzzles, I want some physics based ones, would be new and kewl. Zelda games have fights of 2 - 3 on one, I would the odd large scale fight, make Ganon actually have an army for once, and show how he took the giant fortress that is Hyrule Castle for once! I'm only suggesting they expand what's already there, not make God Of Zelda...

Undead = Check

Ravasaur Mount = Check

Shark with frikken lazer beams attached to its head = Check

I'm going to join the group that think it sounds bad, and nothing like Zelda :?
