How bad would piracy be if PC gaming did happen to die?

Console sales would obviously rise because it would be the only way to game, but just think of all those PC game pirates who would have to turn to console piracy because there would be no new PC games to torrent. You would also get a bunch of new pirates who used to be PC gamers and still want to game but refuse to buy them for consoles.

There are 2 types of pirates, a lazy pirate and a pirate who knows what he's doing. The ones who know what they're doing will have the patience to mod a console, the lazy ones wouldn't.EuroMafia

there are meny reason they are slowly losing on the pc plant form. their vista is garbage. firefox is more popular than micerosft. There are meny reasons. one sec I have some links i could give let me find them.

yep there alot of pc games as well swoftware companies are shifting to other companies. micro soft is slowly dying in the pc world. All because of of the consoles.Apple now has more money than micro soft. there is even talks of new companies who want to make os and cater to pc gaming.blackdreamhunk

There's no real alternative to Microsoft in computer market, they might have ups and downs, but as long as PC market will exist, so will MS and considering PC market is growing fast, so will MS.

Altough they do need restucturization, especialy because of modern economy situation and layoffs are just a part of it. THey need to cut down on what's not profitable

PC market is growing fast and with it so will MS. They might cut down some areas, but their main business is PC software (or to be specific Windows+office), that's their monopoly and that's what will keep them alive even through worst troubles.

If PC gaming disappeared who would the console companies get to make their GPUs? All the consoles this gen are equipped with ATI or Nvidia GPUs, PC gaming goes and so does the gaming orientated GPUs from these companies. Without the PC gaming market Nvidia and ATI would only make developer and integrated device GPUs, there would be no demand and funding to continuously develop gaming oriented hardware like the Gefore line.

Console graphics cards would have to be developed either in house or on special request, making them more expensive and considerably lower performing compared to when PC gaming constantly pushed GPUs forward.

If PC gaming was gone; inheriting pirate gamers would be the least of consoles problems, there would be no one to create demand for better gaming hardware between console releases.
