They Showed:

Exclusives (360 or 360/PC):

Alan Wake - Looked very good graphically as well as gameplay-wise

Crackdown 2 - Despite Crackdown's average ratings, this game was really really fun, and the 2nd should be as well

Forza Motorsport 3 - Graphics looked insane, will definately be better than GT5 from gameplay alone though

Halo 3 ODST - It looked like Halo, not much different. Should be a fun, yet shallow twist on the Halo storyline

Left 4 Dead 2 - First one was great, second should be as well

Splinter Cell Conviction - My most anticipated game from the conference. Looked very good

Multiplats

Final Fantasy XIII - First footage of the game being played real time

Metal Gear Solid: Rising - Its Kojima, he will deliver

Modern Warefare 2 - FIRST EVER gameplay of this highly anticipated title

The Beatles: Rock Band - AGAIN, first ever gameplay

Other

Project Natal - Possibly the future of gaming (or at least casual gaming)

Facebook/Twitter - More Social networking

1080p Movies - A step up from their previous service

Honestly, this Conference was a shot out of the park. They showed games, games, and more games. Whether or not we knew about these games ahead of time is irrelevant. We knew Forza 3 was coming, but we didnt know how awesome it was going to be. Now we do. We knew about Splinter Cell, but we had never seen the new version of it in action. They showed first ever footage of other games as well.

I can't give Microsoft anything less than an A for this press conference.

Anyone who calls it a flop is a blind fanboy. But one can be disappointed. Not that I was. I thought they did a wonderful job. Natal looks cool. Facebook and Twitter I have no care for (and personally think they're stupid). Conviction and Forza look ABSOLUTELY amazing!

I just expected more from them since they've been so hush, hush. Plus there is not a lot of stuff this year for MS, in terms of exclusives. But next year looks to be awesome!

I'd give it a solid 8/10.

It didn't get more, because it mostly relied on 360/PC games or multiplats.

Still, some great announcements in there.

Its not that it was a flop, It was just a tad bit under par. I mean, most of the games you have listed are multiplat and Natel looks like a joke IMO

Most of those games are indeed multiplat, and FFXIII already had a fully playable demo in Japan that anyone can just get and play... so its not the first footage.. Facebook/Twitter and stuff is just a massive waste of time. I thought it was a good conference, but all the Natal and motion stuff just made me think gaming is going in a bad direction, the conversation with that virtual AI boy just seemed scripted or limited, I want to see how far it can be taken.

people place WAY to much emphasis on the conferences. unless the conferences are an utter disaster like sony 06 and ninty last year, they arent even worth watching. Basically, the companies talk about their fiscal plans and whatnot but ANYTHING related to the GAMER can and will be found in more abundance at the e3 show. the conferences dont even need to be apart of e3 imo

This is true. Then again last years E3 was more of a business thing than a game thing, this year is completely different.

Where were the MS pie charts and sales figures? I don't doubt Sony to fall into that stupid trap they do.

But if your not at the Show Floor able to see all the games, then the Conferences are there for you providing information on upcoming games in an organized manner.

Nobody is, it was a very good conference. i thought Halo ODST looked like crap though. I think sony can match it but not nintendo. Not really into the whole motion control camera crap. The only reason people are prasiing it is because it is on 360. It is still crap and gimmicky. They showed off some good games. I really liked modern warfare 2.

speaking purely of new announcements: it was a good showing. 4 new games.2 being completely exclusive. another on PC, and the other being a METAL GEAR title... it was good.

it wasn't REVOLUTIONARY though. the camera thing is a gimmick in my eyes.

so it wasn't a dissapointment, but it wasn't anything AMAZING either.

um not really, the conferences dont show really any games at all. Yea they mention the big big hitters, but if you want any info on games from other publishers/studios, you're goignt o have to follow news from the show floor on websites like gamespot anyway, so ya, the conferences are pretty much useless

Microsoft delivered, but they didn't exceed my expectations. Rare was a no show? And they didn't have any huge surprise to sweep the show. I'd give it a B or a C+. I definitely wouldn't call Microsoft's Conference a flop.

I also agree with you. Plus Mass Effect 2. Epic's live arcade game. Several other EA titles they showed running on the 360 which looked great. Small things like Music on demand. More avatar stuff. Microsoft cleaned up. Sony and Nintendo are going to be impressive as well but Microsoft hit on every key category. Their conference was executed perfectly. It would be an A+ if their system had a bit more juice. But they are obviously getting the most out of their console and more than I expected for sure. It was an A and a homerun. maybe not a grand slam out of the park to win it in the bottom of the 9th but still probably a game winning shot.

Doesn't matter at all. I like multiplats, but due to them being multiplats they're available elsewhere, unfortunately. Still the Halo: ODST, Halo: REACH and Splinter Cell: Conviction look to make up for it :P

how could dumb fanboys make you angry enough to make a topic titled: "How can anybody say that Microsoft's conference was a flop?"

some people try so hard and it's useless. Now, I'm starting to see people who actually weren't impressed by the conference being labeled as "jealous" and "fanboys". Hey guess what? Not everyone is the same and everyone has different opinions.

That wasn't first gameplay/in game footage of ff xiii... or mw 2... and a new rock band game makes MS's conference good?Wow.

The only thing that wasn't completely expected was the new metal gear being on the 360. Everything else was halo or a game that was started 2+ years ago... or both.

Honestly it was meh, only games they showed that were good was alan wake(also on pc so multiplat) and crackdown 2. Splinter Cell was a abomination to the series, it looks to be the heavy rain of stealth games, halo was disapointing, i was expecting something different for the series but it looks to be the same old gameplay with a different main character and story persective. Bunch of other multiplat games, camera is cool but i dont see any worth while games for it yet. All in all it was just one big meh, some cool stuff but nothing special.

People are calling it a flop because MS hyped it so much, much like how when many games dont reach a certain hype, they fail. It's all opinion, but whatever. Personally I think the conference was pretty dissapointing. Not that it all has to be exclusives, but I buy all my third party stuff for PS3, so all that stuff they showed like Rock Band and MGSR I will be buying on my PS3 anyway. I think the Twitter thing was huge, and the Facebook thing. MS is really grounding the Xbox further into popular culture, and reaching out to all angles. As for the motion control? Fascinating, but meh. Not really my thing. Overall, if this conference was hyped AAA, I think it was reached AA for me. It was a good conference, but I think it missed the mark a bit. Not a flop, obviously, a conference cant flop... but a little disappointing.

A- for me. I'm glad that MS continues to show me the 350 bucks I spent is well worth it. The games were insane and the movies look cool. If Milo is released, I can only imagine the fun my friends and I will have cursing him and and all. Also, you forgot Halo: Reach

1. MGS Rising is great but i have a ps3 i will get it on that, esspecially if it has a ne MGO. Alan Wake looks cool, don't care for Forza/Halo, or facebook, or more casual rental services, respect MW but wasn't into COD4, shadow complex looked good, but simple. looking forward to Crackdown 2, don't care about FF13, or rock band. Joy Ride looks amusing

and i don't want motion controls on 360. i will not unload my gun in Metal Gear Rising by doing a dumb finger motion or something

Natal looks like crap to me, i don't want full body motions. i want an IR pointer, and buttons. if you have a controller in your hands it defeats the point of natal, i wanted more info on Zune HD.

to me, i'd give their conference a 6.5/10

It was far from a flop, but Microsoft really needs to work on their own IP. In the past 2 E3's they've gained multiplatform status with two huge franchises, MGS and FF. However, that is still multiplatform. Microsoft really only has Halo (which is now officially the equivalent to Nintendo's Mario in overexposure), Gears of War, and Mass Effect to make anyone who doesn't own an Xbox jealous. I hope they gain some great new IP's with the new eye camera or whatever it is, but they seem to be relying on other established franchises to break headlines, rather then creating their own.

As it goes to show, you can't rely on 3rd parties to carry your exclusives as Sony has now learned, but it seems that Microsoft hasn't as of yet.

Fanboys will be fanboys. I don't even have a 360 and I was blown away.

not bad for them, its just that people are expecting more from those announcement because they lack solid titles this year.

I'd give it a C. Almost all of those games we've known about for a year or more.

- 90% of the conference was about multiplats - There 'exclusives' don't interest me at all - Natal is a waste of time, gimmicky "This is what we plan to do" device which spazzed out the avatar when they tried to use it - The best part of their conference was non-gaming related (watch movies with friends, facebook, twitter, etc).
