Honestly, I get more fun out of building something out of Lego's, throwing it at the wall, and seeing everything break apart.
RFG just didn't strike me as very enjoyable. I love the RF games, mostly the original, but this game doesn't feel like RF. The atmosphere is lacking in so many ways. It's so boring and dull.
The cover system is pretty poor and not on par with other cover systems in the business.
It's cool to break buildings apart and slam into them with trucks for about 5-10 minutes, but beyond that, it's pretty boring and lifeless, imo. Sandbox games are best when the world feels unique and alive. RFG has neither, imo. They could've went far out considering it's on Mars, so they could've stretched its sci-fi nature to make a more exciting playground to play in, but sadly, Volition didn't seem very creative with this one. Better luck next time, guys.
The devs said not so long ago they basically had the 360 maxed-out running this game.
Tbh I found the game( based on the demo) to be bit of a one trick-pony.The novelty of blowing stuff up would quickly wear thin and all thats left is an uninspiring 3rd person action game.
Played the demo. Enjoyed it for around 2 minutes. Turned it off.
I might rent it, then again, I might not :P
well the environments are kinda supposed to be boring and bland, its mars :P and i agree that the mechanics arnt that great, but its certinly not terrible and the ai isnt too bad either. seriously, the multiplayer demo that i got a week ago was enough for me to buy this game. im just somewhat disturbed that i bought something thats an 8.0 at ign, i dont buy games that are gregelbunnyman
You don't buy 8.0's? Hmm, there are plenty of other 8.0's that are better that you missed out on, then. I recommend something else.
I played the demo and it was okay. The destruction was pretty good. But I bought Infamous instead. That game is so much fun. I may buy Red Faction when it becomes cheaper.
everytime i bought a game lower than 8.5, it winded up sucking somehow so i think the critics know what i want better than i do so ill listen to the pros, except when it comes to wii games, im about graphics and tech, not fun. gregelbunnyman
Well, an 8.0 is a "great", "impressive", etc, game from the "pros", as you call them. So if you listen to them, then they don't "suck", right?
played the SP demo which was quite boring, MP however was really fun. cant decide if I should get this at release or wait till price goes down, i mean I will only be getting this for MP but £35 just for MP is too much
i guess i want better than great and impressive cause games in those categories usually suck to me. gregelbunnyman
Wow, how can you enjoy any entertainment, then?
