how can people think that halo 1 is better than halo 2

i just replayed them and halo 2 is is better...

ONLINE multiplayer

the story and cutscenes are more elaborate

the gameplay is improved (dual wielding, easier vehicle controls, battle rifle, covenant carbine, energy sword)

graphics are better

more enemies (drones, brutes)

better levels IMO

halo 1 is a great game but halo 2 does everything better...

both games are AAA and in my top 25 games but cmon halo 2 is obviously better

Halo's sp campaign was better designed, better story, and the multiplayer was also a blast. And it came three years earlier.

It's important to take timeline into perspective -otherwise I could claim Half-Life, doom, Halo1, and a boatload of other awesome games are crap.

Halo: CE has more open environments, better pacing, better designed single player levels as well as memorable moments such as your first encounter with the flood, and escape off the maw in the warthog. It also has a great multiplayer, although not online.

The only thing Halo 2 has over Halo is better graphics obviously, and online multiplayer.

halo 2 was made as a online multiplayer fps and majority of the focus was placed on that. Halo 1 was made with sp in mind and a split screen mp so it really hit the high notes in those catagories. Because the focus was split in more ways, it took away from the single player experience especially when compared to the original. The reason people knock halo 2 is because it really left people wanting more, adding onto the auto aim and other complaints of online mp it left people feeling like it was lacking

My hope is that with halo 3's online multiplayer already established because of halo 2 (not to say it's the same, but they had some groundwork to work with) it leaves bungie more time to focus on other parts, namely single player.

i agree about first time seeing the flood, and escape from the maw being some impressive moments....

the pacing wasnt that good, it need more story like halo 2 had....

and halo 2 had open environments as well the city, the ice stages etc flying in the banshees

it was probably more impressive for its time then halo 2 was

but IMO halo 2 is superior

In mine, Halo CE had a better story and SP, Halo 2 had a better multiplayer. I played Halo 2 longer, but I could not bring myelf to play through the SP more than once, whereas I played the CE SP many times.

no. Halo 2 was corny, it was cheap, it was rediculous (gravemind? WTF was bungie smoking?!) the gameplay was limited and simplified. Halo 2 sucks in comparison to H1organic_machine

halo 2 had you viewing both points of view from covenant, and humans and gave you an in depth look at how both types worked with the covenants leaders the prophets, and the brutes, elites etc............. also the heretic really a hero all along cause he knew the truth about the great journey, and arbiter going through the discovery of the covenants lies

Halo: CE for the PC was better... because not only did it sport online play, but it was everything we loved about the XB hit on your computer for PC fun. Yay! :D

Halo 2 was okay, but I hated the blah Campaign. ANOTHER Halo? Earth for like 3 levels? Come on.

That and Covenant weaponry makes me vomit. I literally cringed every time I had to play as the Arbiter..... :shock:

Yeah the first time I landed on the Halo the ring world I was in awe of the enviroment, the location, the story. I felt in halo 1 I was exploring a new place, and fighting for my survival. Halo 2 didn't capture the enviroment. It wasn't unique, it was halo 1 with prittier graphics, and faster play.

Halo 1 was a far superior experience for me than 2.

Maybe its been too long since I've played the Halo 2 SP mode but I thought it was pretty good. I don't even remember being that annoyed with the cliffhanger ending, which some people have dubbed the single worst ending ever. I liked the story, too, it got in to a lot of weird religious and political things. I just didn't like how all the covenant were suddenly speaking English, and the elites looked downright goofy when they talked.

I should borrow it again some time before Halo 3 hits the shelves.
