Knowing they were ready to screw the consumer with DRM and used game issues until we complained, how can you ever trust Msoft enough to buy the Xbone because they made it obvious they are heading in the always online direction?

Before becoming a cow I was on the fence and willing to buy the Xbone if it were superior.

People trust Sony just fine after $599 US Dollars, Ridge Racer, giant enemy crab and getting hacked and having to shut down PSN for a month.

Not to mention during the hack how many users personal info was left unprotected? How about ps3 was said to be able to do 120 fps. I never trust any of them. I do business with them. Not looking for an emotional relationship with them.

I dont trust any company. Sonysaid they would never charge for online. This generation they are charging for online, but somehow people look over that. Nintendo released a gaming console (wii u) with no gaming support in the first six months of the dmn console. Nintendo also just ignored the nintendo wii in its final years. I believe after 2008 the ninteno wii was nothing. How can you trust any company???

Haha yeah, let me tell ya. I lost all my personal information, bank account was completely cleaned out, and now some asshole's running around with my own identity all willy-nilly. And here I am just sitting idly by, on a street corner mind you, typing away on this Gateway computer I found in some garbage heap (you know, where all the other Gateway products end up) giving you my life story. Crazy world, huh? Just thinking about, makes me wanna drink myself to sleep tonight...

I'm sorry, went off on a tangent. What were we talking about again?

I don't think it's right to trust any company, they all have to make money and they will do it what everyday they can. No doubt MS messed up with the message but the idea is the future whether we like it or not. The idea of going down the shop to buy goods is quickly becoming Stone Age. People used to goto a super market and buy food, now most busy professionals will order it online for delivery. People used to drive to Comet or Currys to buy there Electical equipment, now people order online because its cheaper. Basically the trend of people getting lazy and ordering there goods online has increased ten fold, the next logical step when gamers are ready is 100% digital. As I said though it will take some time before us gamers embrace the future, but it will happen maybe not this gen though. If there is a next gen, expect MS and Sony to push digital distribution big time. In summary, MS message was a confusing and jumbled one, I don't think they had really figured it out them selves. Sony played it safe and sat back to gauge the reaction, smart move me thinks. But now it's over, it's all about dem games and at the moment, MS edges it for me.. I mean......"Have you seen......Titanfall?" :)

I don't trust any company. They're not my friends. It isn't their duty to please me, just as it isn't my duty to please them. They want money, I want a product. If their product looks good enough, then maybe I'll give them my money. And that's as far as the relationship ever goes. Can we please get rid of this notion of trust, as if corporations should be loyal to us? Because lord knows that (generally speaking) customers aren't loyal to corporations and are fully willing to switch as soon as it's convenient. People go "boo hoo, Microsoft is abandoning the loyal fans who made Xbox successful". Or "boo hoo, my favourite rock band is abandoning the fans who made them famous in order to cater to a more widespread audience." Or "boo hoo, George Lucas got rich off of us loyal hardcore Star Wars fans and now he isn't even releasing the unaltered original trilogy on Blu-Ray." And all I can think is, get a f***ing life. If you don't like it then don't buy it, but I am just SO sick of the idea that companies owe us this and that because of trust and relationships and "caring about the hardcore gamers."

That is a tough one. My gut feeling is they will phase in certain aspects of DRM to entice the user in that direction. I suspect they will keep an eye on stats and when they consider enough people have "switched" to the ways of DRM, they will implement a similar DRM stat. However they would be stupid to do so it there stats suggest there is not a trend towards DRM.

Yeah, I understand what you're saying here, but wasn't it because they weren't fully sure about the situation themselves? By the time they did give word there still wasn't any actual confirmation that personal info had been compromised.

Hell, if I remember correctly, I recall reading an article stating no one's information had been wrongfully used from that incident on anyway. Not that it really matters in this current context, but still.

I trust neither corporation. They are both bastards in their own ways.

Microsoft: Does anyone really believe that MS will just let the drm-fest slip away from their grasp? Everyone is forgetting that all it takes to enable or disable that shit is a simple patch. A few on-off switches essentially. What gives us the guarantee that they will not start creeping in those BS measures down along the line? They will not back down with out a fight.

Sony: Has it already been forgotten that Sony has had their system services exploited and shut down for a duration of a month? Oh, lets not also forget them cutting box advertised features such as linux support and full BC on the PS3's. Tell me, what has Sony done about the 'rare' YLoD occurrence that had earlier PS3's shitting bricks left and right? Where is the damn recall?!

Conclusion: Both corporations suck.

Exactly. Nothing. But its all ok, its Sony. They're not greedy. Even the memory cards for Ps vita are practically free. They all do shady shit, are all guilty, and none care about us. They make consoles with games I want to play, I buy them.

That's an excellent point, want to see the definition of greed, proprietary memory cards for Vita... And ofc MS for not including a headset, making us buy chargers for the XBO controllers...I mean we could be here all day.

To be honest, call me an apologist if you'd like, but the only thing I personally criticize Sony for, during that incident, would be failing to encrypting some users' login credentials.

As for the points underneath your sarcasm, no self-respect person could disagree with them, of course.

See? Excluding my first post, I'm trying to be reasonable here... sort of.

Hey I hear ya bro. And agree, Sony was a victim in the hack situation but not encrypting users personal info? My point, as I state a lot is, I am doing business with these companies, not looking to get married to one, or root for them in the Superbowl. So I will buy a ps4 and x1. Because I like games.

I don't trust Sony's finacial investments, although that opinion has changed for me with the PS4. Very smart move to not include the PS Eye, Sony.

I don't trust Microsoft as a company. The console is great, but the damn idiots behind it just had to ruin the momentum the 360 had and plunge it into a toilet. After hearing about Microsoft giving the NSA access to their products, why would I want any of their products now? I have my money on Sony now and I hope they do well, like they did with the PS1 and PS2.

Just go with the lesser evil.

I dont think SONY is "good" and MS is "bad", i just think SONY is "less bad". (and not particulary because of policies, because MS buried itself everytime it allowed one of their reps to open their mouth... what mess it has been since May).

Sony contemplated the same thing with the PS3, people clearly trust them; it's not so much trusting them as it is trusting that they'll do the right thing under pressure of consumer demand. Hell, Sony even put viruses on their music CD to prevent piracy, then released a fix that was another virus issue, and even after that, people trust them. This "How can you even trust Msoft... mooo" thread is just cow babble. If you had such convictions you'd of ditched Sony long ago.

Oh hush, your car probably has a CD player... not like we're talking about tape decks and 8-tracks here.

Or "boo hoo, George Lucas got rich off of us loyal hardcore Star Wars fans and now he isn't even releasing the unaltered original trilogy on Blu-Ray." If you don't like it then don't buy it,MrGeezer
I don't like it because I CAN'T buy it.  Lucas is an asshole.  My VHS originals are moldy as shit and barely play anymore.  Damnit, he owes Star Wars fans the original, and that's that.

Oh yeah! There is a slot thing next to the USB ports. ;)

I do wonder why music stayed on CD when data moved to DVD and then Bluray. They did try DVD-audio and Bluray Audio, but never really got popular.

I didn't have a problem with anything Microsoft was planning for the XBox One. I liked everything about it. I was disappointed when they listened to the whiners on here who probably weren't going to buy one anyway.

Their plan would only have hurt Gamestop and other used retailers and people who didn't have any internet at all. They had already stated they would have a system in place for people who wouldn't have internet service for long periods like deployed soldiers.

The DRM plan would have been beneficial to us. The physical disks would have been used to save download time for people with slower internet. You would have still been able to sell your used games online for credit. No need to visit Gamestop. No more need to ever insert a disk after the initial install.

Since the physical disks will now work just like they did before with no new advantages, I am going all digital downloads on the XBox One. I don't like having to take up a lot of shelf space with my game collection and I have no emotional attachment to the game cases.

MS botched the whole reveal and got knocked the fvck out at E3, then did their 2nd 180, dropped DRM and decided to follow Sony's customer service example. They still aren't out of hot water yet, I'm concerned,: http://www.edge-online.com/features/don-mattrick-might-yet-fix-zynga-but-his-departure-solves-little-for-xbox-one/

People trust Sony just fine after $599 US Dollars, Ridge Racer, giant enemy crab and getting hacked and having to shut down PSN for a month. mems_1224
Because an expensive console Sony lost money on was a trust issue ?

Are you really comparing price, games, and a hack beyond Sony's control to MS enforcing with full intent restrictions on your user experience? Only lemmings

I dont trust them. It will take them years of "doing the right thing" and showing me they have changed and value me as a customer before I will buy their products again. EA is in the same boat.

Lets face it, microsoft did reverse all of those policies we disliked so much. But, they didnt reverse them for the good of the consumer, they didnt do it because they value us as customers, they didnt do it to be good guys. They changed those policies because they were forced to, not because they wanted to. They are still the same shit company they have been for awhile now.

The fact is they dont care about what consumer wants, if they did then all of those horrible policies would never have been put into place to begin with and they only changed them because of all the bad press they got. The fact that they said all of the DRM will be removed with a day 1 patch meaning all of those things are firmware in the systems and in place already so they were commited to screwing the consumer.

A lot of consumers though that were all upset with them before are no ok with them simply because they changed policies and cheering them. Same thing with EA, everyone hates them for years but EA says "battlefront 3" and people lose their minds and start worshiping EA all of the sudden. None of those people care about supporting a company because they treat customers well at all and not supporting one that treats its customers like shit. Hypocrites are the reason we got to this place to begin with.

F microsoft in the A.

How could you trust Sony knowing they have discs capable of blocking the selling/lending of games?
