Okay... I'm not a cow... but let's try this. Which is going to sell better - an $80 handheld, or a $600 console... hmm... Remember, the GBA sales numbers include the GBA SP 2.0 (now with brighter screen) - and the DS can't play GB or GBC games...
Is it really that surprising that the cheapest handheld on the market can outsell the most expensive console?
Here a way to explain. Which would you rather buy: a $600 console that doesn't have that many great games on it or a $60-$80 handheld with a plethora a games to enjoy, hmmm? /threadA little ago, PS3 sold less than GBA. Cows, how can you explain this?

[QUOTE="goblaa"]Well, the PS3 was only barely outsold by the GBA the last few months. So, that tells us they have similar consumer desire.zidane345

wow, that commit right there shows how much trouble the PS3 is inÂ
lolzors it is fun to see that TEH REAL NEW GEN!!11!! console is as wanted as an almost dead handheld.[QUOTE="goblaa"]Well, the PS3 was only barely outsold by the GBA the last few months. So, that tells us they have similar consumer desire.zidane345

No it doesn't, it demonstrates that microeconomics is correct. Of course an $80 handheld with a mature (established) library of games is going to outsell a $600 console. If I'm a parent buying my kid a toy, I'm getting them the $80 gameboy, not the $600 media machine, it's common sense.
My little sister has a Nintendo DS, not a PSP - why? She's a little girl who wants something to play while she's waiting for my mom to pick her up after dance practice - what does she need a media machine for? It's just like her having a Gamecube instead of an Xbox 360. She plays The Sims 2 and Kirby Air Ride, my parents aren't going to spend $400+ for that.

lolzors it is fun to see that TEH REAL NEW GEN!!11!! console is as wanted as an almost dead handheld.Low sales doesn't mean the PS3 is somehow as "unwanted" as a last-generation handheld - they do indicate that the price of the PS3 is too high for most people to make the purchase - the same thing I, and pretty much everyone else, has been saying since they announced the price.
If the PS3 was $300, I guarantee you it would be outselling the GBA. Common sense economics.
Where was this at? On Ebay?matt_r2009

The NPD numbers released monthly show that the GBA is selling more units then the PS3, in the USA... It's been like this sense Jan. Â

That's just speculation on your part. What economics tells us is that the number of people who are willing and ability to pay for the PS3 is smaller then the number of people who are willing or able to play for a GBA... I'ts impossible to know for sure if it's because they aren't willing or can't afford it... That's where economics becomes speculation on your part. Â
It could be they can't afford it... or it could be that they can buy it but just don't want to. Like me. Â
