valve openly stated that they dont develop for PS3.
do you disagree?
Hermits, come in. This guy disagreed with your favorite developer. Let him have it!
Also, its called console exclusiity, or a 360/PC multiplat for the hermits.
This isnt new, there are dozens upon dozens of Pc/360 games.
Valve doesn't feel like going through the expense and trouble of completely recoding their game for a platform that'll get mediocre sales, especially considering how much they iterate on their game leading up to release. sonicmj1
How do you know it would not sell? Everyone buys good games. No one buys crappy ports that are not even made by the real developer.

Even if they gave it a good port, compared to the amount of effort and time it would take them to make that port themselves, as a developer with finite resources, it isn't worth it to them. They don't think that time spent developing skills useful solely on the PS3 platform is worthwhile when the majority of their audience is on the PC.
I know it was a mediocre port, but Orange Box sold relatively poorly on the PC compared to the 360 and PC versions. It's not justified.

lol...yeah, but look at COD4...IW banked big on it with the PS3, 360 and PC. If they make a good game and it appeals to people they are going to buy it. Problem is he will never try it, so we will never know.

don't ask him ask valve cause he is just restating what valve said and valve did ALOT of reseach, they just don't see their games vialbe on the ps3 unless they were to be paid by sony for devloping on the console like many other 3rd party devlopers.[QUOTE="Kahuna_1"][QUOTE="sonicmj1"]Valve doesn't feel like going through the expense and trouble of completely recoding their game for a platform that'll get mediocre sales, especially considering how much they iterate on their game leading up to release. I just wonder if Valve did put a strong effort towards the PS3 how it would actually sell.
should be a good game and PS3 doesnt have any zombie games yet why did they get left out??????????????johnnyblazed88
Not sure, but it sounds like sweet, sweet victory in System Wars once again.

valve's a pretty small shop, and they focus a lot of efficiency. they can learn things on the 360 that translate well to the pc and vice versa, but developing for the ps3 is only useful for developing on the ps3 - they don't have enough people to 'waste' on learning to use a single platform like that yet.The cell can't do zombies.
Seriously guys, think about it:
First, Dead Rising is not on PS3, and now Left 4 Dead.
It seems obvious to me that the celll can't deal with all the audio samples of zombies moaning at once.
Same reason you'll never see an orgy sim on the PS3.
Because the hardware on the 360 is similar to the PC. They aren't going to delay the game to find the hidden power of the Cell.
PS3_3DO
360 an PC hardware are only similar in having DirectX. The 360 has an IBM CPU similar to a G4 Mac, not Intel or AMD CPU.
If things go the way they are with Valve the only real version worth getting will be the PC.. Valve hasn't touched their 360 orange box from launch pretty much.. While the pc version Team Fortress 2 is getting huge patchs along with 2 new maps already.
they're bringing the updates to the 360 version later they said, but after they have enough content to do it all in one shot. i've got a feeling it might be after they're done with all the class achievements :\If things go the way they are with Valve the only real version worth getting will be the PC.. Valve doesnt develop for the PS3.
Valve may let EA port the game over, but it'll be a Orange Box sty1e mess.
Gabe hates Sony, he always did, and will continue to do so. kenshinhimura16
good cause it probably wont sell anyways since its on pc.
