I just played a ton of PS3 at a friends house, Warhawk, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, Metal Gear Solid 4 (Best game ever), and Call of Duty 4. If there is one thing I noticed, it was the awful controls. What's up with this?
To clear it up, I actually like the Dualshock controller. It fights in my hands well, I like the analog placement, and I like the R1 and L1 buttons but I hate the R2 and L2 buttons. Everything else is fine so it's not my hands, don't bother.
Killzone 2: The controls are so sluggish and the response time is ridiculously slow...I don't understand how it could work. The game isn't bad by any means but the controls hamper the experience for me. The game isn't bad but it is overrated and I attribute poor control to being one of the largest reasons why I don't like it as much as most. How can anyone defend these controls...
The Sixaxis sucks too.
Warhawk: What a joke, first of all this game was awful. Third person, poor map selection, it was terrible for a game all about online. The controls also were awful. Shooting was a pain and me and a friend literally ran in a circle for an hour trying to kill eachother. Flying aircraft is like trying to pull a needle out of a haystack. Terrible, awful, six axis control. I can't even begin to describe how awful that was.
Little Big Planet: Why are the control so loose, it feels so awkward. I don't feel like I'm in control sometimes. Shooting is also awful, I was playing the Metal Gear Solid VR Missions and good lord trying to shoot is like trying to shoot a basketball into a soda can. It's impossible to be accurate. Building levels was alright but actually playing the game was frustrating. I like the game a lot though but those damn controls...
I just don't get it, how come they can't get it right? Call of Duty 4 had tight controls, responsive, quick, easy to get the hang of, instantly fun. Metal Gear Solid also controls well despite some streamlining issues.
Seriously though, how can anyone defend the controls of these games. I felt like vomitting especially after doing some of that whirling and twirling in Warhawk.
