How come the news of Rockstar not developing games for 360 after Gta4 isn't.....

I mean this is big news. I know casey the mod went crazy and locked all of the threads about it but did he lock all of em'? It looks like 360 won't get a GTA stories game

yes, but it was released actually recently, that if EA bought Take-2 but Rockstar left, EA would still own the GTA IP, because it was part of Take-2

like: Microsoft owns the Crackdown IP, they didnt make it

Because all rockstar is about is GTA, even though I must say they aren't very good at making those games, its just theres a very limited amount of those type of sandbox games, and they happen to make the "best" ones.dipper145

There have been a number of knock-offs of GTA and you know it--Crackdown, TrueCrime, and Just Cause to name a few. Meanwhile the guys at Rockstar were making the GTA series under a rock unnoticed until GTAIII was released. A few years later, your knock-off games came out.

Its a rumor. Take-2 is a company in financial peril. Why would they want to cut potential future profits?

How to fail at business:

Step 1 - Refuse to manufacture software for the most lucrative, eager-to-buy audience in gaming.

Step 2 - Negotiate exclusivity with a company whose last two products have low attach rates, and second-rate total sales

Step 4 - Bankruptcy

This is obviously a rumor because Rockstar is not suicidal. Manufacturing exclusives for the last-place console, unless you're being paid by Sony directly, is a piss-poor idea.

Fable 2 is a real game with actual information being released regarding it since GDC. This is an unsubstantiated rumor that suggests a company whose livelyhood depends on game sales would, for some reason, stop selling games to a massive audience.

Here's the fastest way to understand why this is wrong:

Publishers don't care about the winner of the "system war" so long as they make money.

The moment you realize that is the moment you start to see how the business of videogames works. The reality has been for some time that if you own a 360 / PC or more recently PS3, you're going to get the vast majority of games, and the few exclusives this generation are either:

1) Published / paid for by the console manufacturer.

2) Lower budget titles (XBLA, Wiiware, indie PC games) that won't pay licensing fees for multiple platforms

3) Titles developed for a fanbase that only solidly exists on one particular platform (Wii Fit, Sins of a Solar Empire, etc)

DMA IS rockstar DMA was the original name for the comapny before Take Two picked them up, they then had the name changed to Rockstar North to represent the location of the company, North of the UK, near scotland...

DMA=Rockstar,now they just have many different teams besides the original British based team

2K own the IP but still its just a name Rockstar could make another with a different name and it could be a direct sequel much like the situation with F.E.A.R 2/Project origin

omg people. the stupid article took the recent interview out of context - it's been smashed on other sites.

the original interview Rockstar talks about how all future development will use the PS3 as the LEAD PLATFORM due to the issues they had with porting GTAIV.

why people trust one poor sourced article online about a magazine article baffles the mind.
