How could Sony get people to buy Uncharted 2?

One way would be to flood gaming forums w/ threads to make it appear as though tons of people are talking about the game and they're so excited about it.

Its called guerilla markting and its very real--

just look at all those threads posted around the same hours... hmmm.

How do these marketing tactics make you feel...as though you are being fooled or does it make you want to participate?

How else can Sony get people to notice the game? 1 million sold barely today???

I don't understand what people are using their PS3's for. Software is selling like crap.

So, these Sony Guerilla Marketing bods decide to register on the Gamespot forums, post for a couple of months about anything (without being noticed) to get a nice big post count and then drop a load of new threads about Uncharted 2 just when it's necessary.

Then some guy with a post count of 7 reveals what's going on?

Sounds more like an MS counter-tactic to me :P

Any buisness man could tell that "we" (the hardcore gamers) who actually look at those forums account for less than 5% or so of the potential market, so i doubt they would employ "secret, shady agents" to troll for it on a forum.

When was ONE MILLION in SALES Bad? Who decides this stuff, new posters? Who set the Bar at "ONE MILLION OR BUST?"

Well, you have to admit...Uncharted 2 has been out for 3 years, so 1 million sales is pretty good, right?One Million is fantastic, sure it took UNCHARTED 2 three years to sell ONE MILLION, but dang, ONE MILLION is awesome. Golly gee willikers, 500,000 is awesome!

I fondly recall the holiday season Uncharted 2 came out, heck, I remember forums knocking down the Uncharted 2 sales before that Holiday Season was up! I know that today, that seems crazy, but back then people did that a lot! Of course, LBP had that problem too. I remember Half of One Million was terrible Sales to fanboy's too. Crazy remembering those times.

For the production costs, MARKETING costs, advertising, shipping and other external costs, yeah, 1 million is a poor number. Deal with it. MW2 day one out the gate pulled a strong retur on investment. As for the hardcore being strong at 5%, we are potential viral agents that will talk to our friends about teh GR8 gamez!!! So, the consensus here is that Uncharted 2 deserves selling only ONE million for all the time its been out. Hmmm... interesting. It says that a multiplatform highly anticipated sequel sales better than a PS3 exclusive building up steam.

Why do we have to compare them anyways? The Season isn't over either. MW2 broke Halo 3 reserve order numbers, so you happen to be comparing a new sales phenom to Uncharted 2.

ACTIVISION already said that MW2 was going to be an UBER seller months and months ago. Try again.

I don't know how ANY WAY would be considered good marketing in TC's sense. But to me, I think I'm going to use that 'true gamer' mentality, if publishers funds developers well and developers makes use of their resources and just focus on making a good game, it will automatically catch my attention. Smart gamers knows how to choose their games, and ultimately they will only buy the best ones.

Interesting point, I did see a surge in omg uncharted threads today. I thought that game had finally died.

They would have to actually make the game interesting for me to buy it. No amount of hype threads is going to make it look any better.

Start air tv ads about a guy with a ditzy girlfriend that actually thinks U2 is a movie and not a game. Oh wait they already did that and it failed. Change the boxart to include the name Halo in it...
