How did MS blow it?

:lol: How did 360 release first at a cheaper price with all the apparent advantages and still end up last? If someone told me back in 2006 that Sony would release at $599 with all the problems they had and still end up overtaking the 360 I would have said they were crazy. How did MS blow their lead this way? Personally I think it was after 2009 when they decided to lose focus on games and focus more on Kinect and services. If they still had their studios and a steady stream of exclusives, I don't think they would be in last place now. Sony practically handed them a victory and they still fumbled.

Blow what?

1. They've profited off the 360 pretty consistently. 
2. The system got a  huge  amount of 3rd-party support. 
3. They released one of the most popular peripherals to exist.
4. Live became the standard, which actually forced Sony into getting their act straight.

They didn't blow it. Until Sony releases a press statment claiming they have surpassed MS and what the PS3's sales are minus ALL PS2 sales, then I will beleive it. The insanity that they wouldn't tout such an accomplishment after 7 long years takes a leap of logic only a cow is capable of, lol.

and to make things worse it seems the X720 will not have neither of those advantages of lower price nor the a year head-start. M$ are absolutely FCKD.

Why are people so mad? Sony has been doing everything right the last 2 years and the PS4 is shaping up to be amazing. Why would you blindly support MS? You want more Kinect games and paying to unlock multiplayer?

I have a 360 and a Vita and next gen I'm definitely getting a PS4. I bought PS+ last week and already got my money's worth (Gravity Rush is amazing) I can only imagine how good PS+ is going to be when I have the Vita/PS4 combo.

They strapped themselves into the casual bandwagon with Nintendo. Sony stayed true to the core gamer and prevailed over the causal masses. MS would have been completely curb stomped by Sony if MS had not done their $500 million marketing campaign for Kinect. Even despite MS's efforts and one year head start, they still lost.

I don't see how they blew it. The original xbox had a tiny sliver of the gaming market, and with the 360, they gained a huge portion of it, dominating in every market other than the irrelevant Japanese market. That's a sucess in my eye.

I fail to see how anyone can seriously say the PS3 or the 360 "dominated" the other. They're essentially tied in terms of sales. The only reason I would even say Sony somewhat failed is because they went from the clearly dominant console (PS2) to simply being tied. They lost market share, whereas Microsoft gained it.
