They're not 'dying'; they're just not good anymore.
I don't mind seeing their gimmicks flop though. And yes, they are gimmicks -- it's not a matter of opinion.

Define "not good."I've said it a lot of times before: the motion controls, designed primarily for casuals that like to pretend their Wii-mote is a katana or a lightsaber or something. The remote doesn't really work for anyone but Nintendo since they're the only ones that bother developing for it; it's not a console that's attractive to third-party support. Flailing my arms around doesn't get me immersed or make me feel like I'm using something better than a mouse or keyboard, for example. It just looks silly.
All the Casualtendo software that stems from using the Wii to try to appeal to minors: Wii Music, Wii Sports, Wii Play, Wii Fit -- all worthless, vapid, commercial garbage that Nintendo keeps marketing, as if the system didn't have enough shovelware already.
Lack of innovation where it counts -- Nintendo hasn't expanded their library at all, and they're not letting any developer do that either. I'm not going to always want to playMario, even if it's a great platforming experience. They haven't really progressed much at all; other systems have games like Heavy Rain, L.A. Noire, Mass Effect, and Portal 2.Where does that leave Nintendo, really?
Well, L.A. Noire isn't anything special and Heavy Rain is a poor game that has more holes in its plot than Swiss cheese. As for Mass Effect, you know how I feel about that, as well as Valve games. So.... I'd say it leaves them pretty good, all things considered. Though I won't argue for motion controls. Ever.
