I've been playing No More Heroes 1 on switch and the movement is clunky and not-fluid and combat is awkward and you can tell it was made with motion controls in mind. I don't know if it's just the motion controls not translating or it was 2008 or it's just the game being bad, there were some really smooth 3D action even on PS2.

Anyone tried this, the 2nd game, Super Mario Galaxy, Skyward Sword, etc. on Switch? How are they? Awkward or not?

Super Mario Galaxy 1&2 actually have patches for modern controls. You'd still have an awkward way of catching star bits but it actually plays really well.

I was actually thinking of playing Mad World and looking if it has any possibility of being playable with modern controls instead of motion controls.

Also I'm on a phone so I'm leaving this space blank to insert Kevin Butler gif.

With NMH, I think it's mostly the game being wonky/bad. There weren't much motion controls in it, you mostly just had to flick the controller to the side or something to finish enemies off. Can be done just as well with a control stick. Many Wii games had unnecessary motion controls that did nothing to improve the games. I think it actually more often made them worse.

Super Mario Galaxy works great on Switch. You can spin with a button instead of motion controls, and you can control the pointer with gyro.

Skyward Sword controls are ok. If you play with buttons only, you'll have to hold down a button to control the camera. Which feels weird, but you can get used to it. You flick the stick to swing the sword, which also is kinda weird, but also kinda fun. Wouldn't recommend the game though, it's pretty bad.
