This was one of the advantages that PC gaming had over consoles and it has been taken away by greedy corporations.

Hmm... this'll be interesting to see how it turns out.

Considering the developers of GTA have publicly acknowledged the modding scene and gave them credit, I doubt it goes anywhere.

You can't credit modders and encourage them then say it's illegal, that's dumb. I hope Rockstar North fixes this.

This game has already generated them $5,000,000,000 in revenue just from sales, not even including the in game transactions which no doubt puts them over $10,000,000,000.

The only logic I can see is this messing with their revenue in some capacity, but when you've already made that much, it can't even be rationalized.

Yeah, TC is wrong about all mods. It was simply just Take Two sending out a cease and desist to the Open IV team. All other modding is still completely legit.

Can Open IV be used to create cheats for online use? If that's the case then I can understand why this would be done.

I haven't used a mod in god knows how long. Project reality in BF2? Was the last mod I used.

Open IV I believe could only be used when not online. Trainers are what are usually used for online cheats.

Modding isn't illegal. Developers/publishers actively stopping modding isn't a legal thing, it's simply their product to limit as they will.

@lllll1lll2ll:

At a point, modding should be illegal. Especially when people hack online games but that's hacking which is totally different, I think. Hmm... Well, I guess if I made a game on PC; I wouldn't mind people modding it as long as it's not used to make it into a completely different game or something unrecognizable. Skin mods, texture mods, add structures, missions, maybe level up boosters, that's all fine. But don't turn it into an illegal version of Gary's Mod. That's not cool!

pc gaming is slowly evolving into console gaming.(restricted and overpriced filled with DLC and micro transactions)

a sad day

But don't worry the greedy pigs will not win.They will not take our freedom away.There will always be workarounds and torrent sites.

There were some mods forbidden in World of Tanks as well like the bullet trace/trajectory mod which was a good way to counter artilleries and find hidden shooting tanks.

I don't know if there was an illegal mod in World of Warcraft. It has been at least half a decade since the last time I played.
