Well everyone the latest edition of the system wars has begun and I have to say Sony has stumbled out of the gate.  The Wii, while fun, has yet to impress me with games that last a long time.  Sure the mini games can be addicting but I have yet to play a game that makes me glad to own the system.  That only leaves Microsoft and I have to say I play my 360 on average 3-4 hrs a day.  So the question I have for you my fellow gamers is how do you think the system wars will pan out.  Personally I think that Microsoft needs to lock down the japanese market and it's over but what do I know, I mean I'm no expert and I'm just going by what I read and see in the reports.  So post your feelings and tell me what you the gamer thinks.  :)

Too early. Sony has the right stuff. People just need to w8. GOW, GT, Killzone, R&C, J&D, MGS4, FF, DMC4, etc. They are coming. Those are them games that made the playstation stand out. Microsoft is doing well because they had more time in the market. And they too have the right stuff. They even managed to make more exclusives. I don't know about the wii. I think it will come in last again. The gameplay is fun but there isn't a lot to do with the wii-mote. I think that developers just reached the limit with Wario ware, excite truck, and red-steal. But this isn't my fnal conclusion. We have 5 years ahead of us.

Both the PS3 and the Wii need to wait a while before anything new comes out.

My mystical magic seeing-into-the-future glass of water tells me:

The Wii will continue to have a strong performance in console sales through 07-08, getting real close to the 360, if not passing it outright.  The intimidation factor of 3rd party developers going up against Nintendo's big franchies will be reduced as Nintendo sets aside specific periods for 3rd parties to release their games, and specific periods for Nintendo's surefire sellers.  The relatively cheap cost to produce Wii games will see 3rd party development grow substantially in 08.

The 360 will continue to do well, especially after a price drop and more of it's exclusives are released.  Established 3rd parties will continue to develop for the 360 while continuing to port stuff over to PS3.  The 360 and Wii will seal up the top two console selling spots without direcly compeating with each other at the same time.

The PS3 will remain crippled till 2009 when a price drop will finnally be announced for the console.  The price will continue to deter many casual gamers from purchasing the system, as well as a few hardcore gamers who choose to pick the 360 over the PS3 due to multi-platform games.  Developers will continue to look at the other console systems and perhaps outright leave Sony.  In 09 the PS3 may pick up steam after a long 2 years and finnally becomes a threat to the 360's established lead that has taken place over 3 years.

Disclaimer:  The glass of water may have been drugged, or might not have been water at all.  Results may vary from user to user.  The glass is also half-full and half-empty.

too early to tell but if what's happening right now an indication of the future than the 360 will come out on top with the wii in second place.

They'll all have their ups and downs, as always.

The question posed was how do you feel about the latest consoles and who will do well.  I was not asking you to become angry about the number of threads that have this topic.  Perhaps I need to be clearer if you take a look at the LAUNCH of each system and base it on that I still feel that the 360 came out ahead.  Now don't get me wrong I am an avid gamer,  but when you promise the world and deliver me Utah minus Salt Lake City(Sony)  that will make ALOT of people upset with you.  The Wii needs more time yes but when you look at it the games feel gimicky.  Now I still play my Wii and I have to say that they can be really fun but I really think that they need more games and less party games.  Microsoft on the other hand started off well along with the Wii, and has only improved but when I see Sony showing off footage for their system and they say this is what the games look like and we compare launch basketball games between the PS3 and the 360 I can say that the 360 delivered and Sony didn't.
