Well, we don't know much about it. The only thing is that it'll have huge battles. There's a levelling system for your soldier. It seems to try and replicate the feeling of war. You find yourself ranking through during service. You go in squads (8 players per squad). Honestly, if they can get this right, it might be an amazing game.

I have hope though because Zipper Interactive is behind this game. Who's Zipper Interactive you say? The guys who created the most successful last gen third person shooter, the SOCOM series. Sure, after SOCOM II, they lost vision of SOCOM, close quarter gameplay, but what they did with SOCOM 3 in terms of vehicular combat, large maps, 32 players on the PS2, they've shown that they are possible of pushing the limits when it comes to having the size of a game larger. They can create great gameplay, as evidence of SOCOM, and huge games, as evidence of SOCOM 3. I guess that's the reason they weren't working on SOCOM: Confrontation, they wanted a bigger game, Sony gave it to them. I know they've been working on this for a while though because I'm an avid SOCOM fan and have been keeping track of Zipper. They started looking for MMO programmers in 2006 meaning that's when they started development, so I think we'll see this in maybe late 2009.

I'm interested to see how this will turn out though. Proven devs, but it looks a little ambitious. Can it be done? We'll have to wait an see.

Oh, and hopefully, MAG is just a placeholder name ;)

Its an MMOFPS...people will ultimatly be dissopointed in it like most MMOFPS's...especially when they find they need to pay a subscription fee...and that lag at times can be unbearable.

But at its best, it will be a blast.

I'm glad to see this game. It's good to see some developers taking chances and trying some new things with shooters because in general the genre is getting a little stale. I'd really like to see this turn out well, I'm happy a team like Zipper has the reigns.

As far as I can tell, it'll either take the gaming world by storm or fail miserably with more lag than a plane flight to China. But if the worst happens, Metal Gear Online or Socom 3 is likely to pick up the slack.

Not sure, but if it's like what Planetside used to be like then it'll rock.

Well, Tretton did say "We have free online" a couple of times. I think he might keep this one free. Hopefully it's not like your average MMO with a fee.

We'll find out in 2012, I believe.

As for now, it looks promising and pretty... but nothing else.

The game itself will probably be good, but do we really need a Battlefield game with a subscription fee?

Yeah. Kind of worried. I don't know though, for some reason, I see this one being free. Isn't The Agency for the most part free or something?

Nobody ever said anything about fees... That is just speculation at this point.

no I dont think so...the rumur came up some time ago and was put down pretty fast by Sony.

MMO's that are free, tend to be pretty bad...with the exception of Guild Wars, but that isnt a true MMO anyway because its all instanced.

Its safe to assume off the bat that an MMO will have a subscritption fee.

WWII Online: Battleground Europe has a similar concept, but it's aimed for simulation fans instead of shooter fans. MAG looks interesting, though.

anyone who claims to even have an opinion on the game is a fanboy..... unless youare able to discern what a game will be like, from watching a CGI movie teaser of it.

Hopefully, they force down objectives on the player. I hate when I'm playing and my teammates are just going off in the wild.

I just used knowledge from the developer in terms of making a game of scale work. Nothing about the gameplay. If they nail their target, they may have a successful title.

If it has subscription fees, instant fail. I can't handle extra fees for an online game. Why should I pay, being generous, $5 a month for a online shooter when Halo 3 is 99% likely to still be the better online shooter. I doubt they'll even give new content per week.

And all we saw is a CG trailer so who knows?

Going in my quote list of all time Aka my sig. But ya MMOG's are an epic win or epic fail you cant have an "alright" game. And someone else said how do you know you will have to pay a Subscription. As guy i quoted said More lag than a plane flight to China. See Monthlies pay for server maintenance and without that guess what ya there is going to be HUGE server lag and such a large scale games needs really good servers to run them and also monthly fee comes in so more then likely its going to have to make a Monthly Fee to not fail sorry but he made the reasonable guess there.

So Zipper has been working on this instead of Socom proper? I thought the online only Socom coming out this fall was being made by the Fireteam Bravo guys to buy time for Zipper to make the single player Socom awesome.
