Well, we don't know much about it. The only thing is that it'll have huge battles. There's a levelling system for your soldier. It seems to try and replicate the feeling of war. You find yourself ranking through during service. You go in squads (8 players per squad). Honestly, if they can get this right, it might be an amazing game.
I have hope though because Zipper Interactive is behind this game. Who's Zipper Interactive you say? The guys who created the most successful last gen third person shooter, the SOCOM series. Sure, after SOCOM II, they lost vision of SOCOM, close quarter gameplay, but what they did with SOCOM 3 in terms of vehicular combat, large maps, 32 players on the PS2, they've shown that they are possible of pushing the limits when it comes to having the size of a game larger. They can create great gameplay, as evidence of SOCOM, and huge games, as evidence of SOCOM 3. I guess that's the reason they weren't working on SOCOM: Confrontation, they wanted a bigger game, Sony gave it to them. I know they've been working on this for a while though because I'm an avid SOCOM fan and have been keeping track of Zipper. They started looking for MMO programmers in 2006 meaning that's when they started development, so I think we'll see this in maybe late 2009.
I'm interested to see how this will turn out though. Proven devs, but it looks a little ambitious. Can it be done? We'll have to wait an see.
Oh, and hopefully, MAG is just a placeholder name ;)
