Ironic that you include the BC issue. Sony said they would move to software emulation and get rid of including the PS2's emotion engine in units back in June. They kept their word and now you bash them for it.

because 99% of the average consumer doesnt overanalyze things like this forum does. and since all of you who go to forums and calmly discuss thingsconsist of the 1% of consumers, you guys are basically insignificant in the big picture.

Don't take it personally, they are just a company like microsoft who want you're money, The reason why people want ps3 here is cus of brand names, great games at launch here in europe, of course the US is a bit different, you take things too personally, i'm getting cus i like the games and media, if i don't i won't buy it

Yeah, he's right about that, they did say a while ago that they would remove the emotion engine - I just figured when they did they'd already have a fully working ps2 software emulator... maybe in a few more months. Anyhoo, the background downloading wasn't a promise made a while ago or anything... they said they'd probably have it ready by patch 1.6 - patch 1.6 didn't come out today or something did it? Super computer graphics? What does that even mean and what sort of standards are you judging this by? Have you gamed on a lot of 'super computers'? Plenty of games at launch, not sure if they -actually- made that promise. And they did have a pretty hefty launch (amount wise) unfortunately for them, a lot of the games -sucked-.

Please stop bringing up 4D like it was some kind of promised feature that was never delivered. Compared going from standard definition to high definition being like going from 3D to 4D. They never said that PS3 would play games in 4D, that's just BS that Lemmings fabricated.

it funny how most of the people in this gaming world likes the ps brand. they give you the goods. they give you the games ect. the ps 2 did not have great lanch titles either but the games turned out great. the reality is sony is great xbox was ok but micro is doing better the gen. nintendo got coky making third parties to pay them money expesive format. they learned from that. this gen it will be a golden egg for all of them. they are all going to be good. false promises in your opinion. i like my ps 3 games that have. it is a great put together system. it is reliable. now we have to sit back and wait for the games to comeout like the 360 fans had to do. why do lemmings think that the ps 3 has been out the same time as the 360. they act like it.

I have reframed from purchasing a next generation console as of yet. I've actually made my way over to the PC side of things. I feel that next-generation isn't entirely here yet. I'm just glade that PC gamers get DirectX10 regardless of the requirements to run it.

PS3 : " The PS3 can be used in downtime to link to the network and contribute its processing powers to SETI or perhaps decoding the human genome or curing Cancer"*. "5 Million Sold with No Games"

* Hasn't Been disproven, but I doubt it's a selling point to most people nor will it actually be implemented on a wide scale.

I can argue with you on this post.

1. I live in N. America and my PS3 plays all 45 of my PS1 games and all 20+ of my PS2 games. Sure, the EU PS3 will have a drawback when it comes to that, but you have to remember that not everyone on SW is from EU. 2. This will work as long as you're not playing a game. That means you can listen to music, look at your photos, watch movies and browse the net. I've heard from plenty of people you cant download something and play games on the 360 either... so this is a lame arguement. 3. The graphics on the PS3 are seriously awesome. It's just as powerful if not more so than the 360. So you're really showing your fanboy colors with this statement. 4. The word "Plenty" can be taken many ways. What you should have put was "Plenty Good Games". As of launch, there were 2 games that I wanted... or that I considered to be good. Resistance and Ridge Racer 7. There are now more games out and more in March that will be good. The EU launch will have 30 titles released... many will be good titles.

They said that they were gonna use PS2 chips to emulate in the begining because it is a difficult thing to do, but that when they got better at emulating with software, the PS2 chip set would be phased out.

The graphics will come, 360 had the same problem.......

No one ever has plenty of games at launch, at least not a lot of good ones, so who cares?

They'll get background downloading right eventually, and they never said that BD was gonna be there at launch......

They can get away with 4D because anybody with half a brain could understand it was an exaggeration, Kutaragi lives for hyperbolic statements. Counter question: How can Microsoft get away with the crap they still do? How can Wal-Mart? How can ExxonMobil or Shell-Texaco? They are all worse than Sony...heck, Apple even has been worse lately.

Can I get a link to this "you won't need a PC" thing? Because its the first time I've heard it. While we're at it, the original quote about the Cell BE was "supercomputer like attributes" which is in fact true..it was later ammended to "supercomputer on a chip" or some such which once again is true if you are talking performance and comparing it to older lowend supercomputers, but that one can mostly be chalked up to Kutaragi. Why does anybody take anything Kutaragi says in such vague terms seriously? Hes smart and has vision, but he also likes boasting a bit too much for his own good....oh thats right, its so they can claim "ownage".

Errr, you Microsoft employees really annoy me. Have you nothing better to do than dig up all sorts of dirt that's in the past? So what, just move on. How about you give the PS3 a year to smooth out all of the edges, you know, kinda like your console? I don't remember your first months being a walk in the park, either.

Because Sony has an army of ignorant casuals at their beck and call. Still, MS has their fair share of unfulfilled promises as well, Sony's just the worst. (gaming-wise anyway)
