I mean really; who DIDN'T own a PS2 last gen.
Why list the fact that the PS3 can play all the great PS2 games as a reason to get it??? Why not just play them on your PS2 and save some money?

That's why people are still buying them today. At its price, it is of MUCH better value than a PS3.
Because the PS3 can upscale old PS2 games to almost HD qaulity, sorta like what Halo 3 does.sakura_Ex

Because I don't like switching between consoles every time I want to play a PS2 game.

The PS3 upscales them to Glorious HD to boot, and plays PSOne games! It's just a great feature. I hate how many games MY 360 can't play.
And Not many people have enough room to have all the system's of all time hooked into one T.V.. I had to retire my Xbox, and Dreamcast, and Gamecube. Luckily, Sony and Nintendo's system's let me play old games with no fuss or muss. Xbox 360 on the other hand...
What I don't get is why do people such as yourself complain about GOOD THINGS?

hahaha funny, but it's true. lol
Is this an example of damage control? Halo 3 looks amazing.

Yes, exactly, it does lookamazing:Halo 3 is basically Halo 2 in HD. It looks amazing, but thats about it. I think thats what Sakura EX meant.

No. Just No.But it wasnt damage control as being able to play last gen games on your new console is NEVER a bad thing.
It's so that you can play all the best sony games on one system as apposed to having 3 different ones all stacked up on your TV. That's the answer. if you think it's stupid, congratulations on having a leaning tower of systems upon your telivision.

But what if I just have a PS2 anda 360 hooked up??? Then I have the best of both worlds, no?
It's a major plus. I don't want to keep a PS1 anda PS2 hooked up to my HDTV. The PS3 allows you access to a great library of past games, not to mention the present and future ones. It's just common sense.
It'll continue to be a plus too, until your Xbox360 can play them.

Not really. You're basically wasting two input slots on your TV using those two.
that said I wonder what their emulator is like? coz I heard that they removed the emotion chip so now they have to emulate it.anyone has any idea about this?

Yeah, supposedly anyone who buys a PS3 now will have to have the leaning tower of video game systems that you all talk about.

Yeah sure. But we weren't talking about 360, we were talking about Playstation. If you want to play Playstation games from PSone, PS2, and PS3 all you need is a PS3. If it didn't have that (like for some reason you want) you would have to have a PS3 on top of a PS2 and a PSone balancing on top of the rounded top of the PS3. That why it is a plus. Here is a site that you can search which games are compatible. I believe the 80 gig version is the one without the EE chip. Most of the big games work from ps1 and ps2 on the ps3.that said I wonder what their emulator is like? coz I heard that they removed the emotion chip so now they have to emulate it.anyone has any idea about this?

LoL Nice one!
anyway, Who wouldn't want a PS2 in their PS3? I like the virtual memory card and PS1 downloads. HD upscaling is nice, though not as good as the 360's revisions. I gave my PS2 to my little brother to destroy, and it saves me the space and trouble of using it.

No. Not true at all.
And it's a big plus, to assume that EVERYONE owned a PS2 is extremely ignorant.
because it can upscale them to hd Edit: i just read the earlier response. "kinda like halo 3, eh?" that's gold.I mean really; who DIDN'T own a PS2 last gen.

RF Modulator.
To the TC. It's a plus for the PS3 just like it's a plus for the 360. I didn't own an Xbox last gen but I own a 360, so I dont have to have both to play the games. It could go vice versa with the PS3.
because its a good purchase for those that wants to play the AAA ps2 games and for those who wants to play the upcoming AAA games.
i honestly have 5-6 ps2 games i have yet to finish.
waiting is fine with me. take ur time developers.
SO IF ITS SUCH A GREAT PLUS...
WHY IS IT NO BIG DEAL THAT SONY IS TAKING IT OUT OF THE PS3 NOW???
septicvirus
ARE YOU STUPID?
Sony isnt removing th BC feature from future PS3's,theyre just removing the EE to reduce manufacturing cost and using software emulation to run the BC feature.
