I’m wait and see. 34%

I’m always excited for a new gen. But I’m not gonna lie.. this gen has been so good that it’s tampered my excitement. Last gen, that was a different story. By the end of last gen, a new gen was so badly needed that people flocked to buying a next gen console as soon as it launched. I’m curious to see what will happen when the PS5 and Xbox One Two come out. Are people desperate for a new one or will they wait. What about you, SW? How excited are you for next gen?

I'm not that excited at this stage... I'll end up buying a Xbox Scarlett eventually, but I'm more than happy with what I have now atm (I'm playing Switch mostly nowadays anyway).

Bring it on!!! this gen has been a massive disappointment in many ways mostly due to greedy publishers and the lack of new IP's also graphically it's been meh. I want to be wowed by graphics next gen but without the graphics downgrades. The Watch Dogs 2012 demo exposed how weak the current gen hardware was and that was in 2012. It's crazy but true that the E3 2012 demo still looks better then Watch Dogs 3. That's not to say that all tech has been a major disappointment this gen VR really gave me a glimpse of the future.

I'm at a "Eh, It’s whatever" and to be honest, this gen was really great in my opinion. Lots of good games I played and enjoy so far, no disappointments and only because I game on PC, I was very content what PS4 had to offer in terms of power and the same goes for Switch as well. Whenever next-gen arrives, I'll be ready but even then, I'm not really excited picking up PS5 on launch but a year later after release this time around.

All in all, this gen was a blast......besides MS Xbox One though. I'm sure MS learned their lessons and be more ready for next-gen.

Mostly for VR.

If it wasn't for VR then probably wouldn't care much.

Zero point zero.

I have a notion that new consoles are going to be $600 at launch. I'll probably wait until year three before jumping into next gen.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. There's still so much to do this gen anyways before jumping into next-gen.

I’m pumped! Bring it on!

There’s still plenty of stuff that I’ll enjoy from now until then but I’m really looking forward to picking up the Scarlett when it launches along with Halo: Infinite as well.

Pc gamers have shown me next gen visuals in Metro Exodus. Expect higher resolutions and a few effects but thats about it.

Ps4 was my least favorite main PlayStation system and X-box one was horrible. So not all that excited about it.

Switch on the other hand has been fantastic. I could play that forever.

@heirren: We'll see. Often consoles have an advantage not seen capable on a PC of similar caliber.

On PC I'm always next gen so long as I want to pay for it. I don't know what next gen is truly going to offer other than ray tracing but the comparisons for modern lighting techniques against ray tracing in games like BF 5 isn't very noticeable without doing a direct side by side comparison.

So other than offering more 4k 60fps games, I don't see much to anticipate for new console hardware considering what the latest high end PC tech is doing at the moment.

@Telekill:

I was joking but i think the line will be further blurred next gen. I expect ms/kb support for next gen consoles out of the box, especially if the price is to be higher, as throwing in a dirt cheap mouse and kb will "add value".

I'm not excited per say, but I'm sure I'll buy into one of them, and then make sure everyone internet knows what I chose, and if they don't like it, yell at them til they think like me.

Nah, not really. Maybe I'm just growing older but games get less interesting and more generic these days for me to be excited for them. I honestly don't get why people get so hyped for a new console.

O, r u excited for the next console? Have fun having game droughts and lackluster releases for the first two to three years. That's always fun, right?

It's laughable how when a console finally starts to establish its own library people are already hyping the next console as if the current one isn't any good.

Well with next gen being the smallest jump outside of Nintendo laughable generational "leaps", I am looking more forward to the games and reduced load times more than marginally better graphics.

Pumped but wish it was a little sooner actually. I haven't been too thrilled with the last 2 console gens. Although I am enjoying the Switch quite a bit and the PS4 has been hit or miss with me. Excited for quicker load times, but more excited about moving into a new house with better internet.

I'm very happy with this gen, so I'm not in a hurry to buy a new set of consoles. With that said, I might consider getting a PS5 early if it's backwards compatible, as then it might be worth the investment for the bump in resolution since I don't have a pro.

While I am curious what next-gen console hardware brings, my backlog is large enough I could probably skip a gen entirely and still have plenty to play. So it is going to be quite a while before I even think about buying the next Xbox or PS5, if at all.

I would sooner upgrade my PC then buy another console given that PS4 has been such a little-used system I sold it already, and Xbone has been meh but at least I had more than a small handful of games for it. Switch has been amazing though.

Plus given how predatory this industry is becoming with many big-name games having a mobile-style cash shop and/or lootboxes out the ass I have been buying less and less of these 'AAA' games as time goes on.

Buying a PS5 Day One.

PlayStation always has the best games. I have no issues with playing old consoles either. I have my PS2/PS3/PS4 still hooked up and I alternate between them.

If I was looking into getting one day one I feel Sony would have more games to put out. MS are further behind in terms of 1st party but 2 years might be very different.

I am looking forward to the jump in graphics, people have this idea that it will just be a resolution and framerate jump over standard X1 and PS4 and will have no difference from Pro and X1X visuals but they forget those games are designed around base specs.

Next generation with the inclusion of Ray Tracing has the possibility of being a bigger jump in visuals than the PS3 to PS4 was.

@BassMan: Even for next years cards I'd really want something that can push for 3440x1440 and 120fps and wouldn't really mind if they didn't feature RTX. But of course make it available for those that really want the option :)

Still working my way through the PS3 backlog and don't have a PS4 or XBOX One. Firmly in the wait and see camp.
