I assume your implying that the 360 has been maxed out? No, I dont believe it has been yet. Consoles usually arent maxed untill the end of their life cycle.
i thought XBOX1 really never did max out... I guess you could point to the splinter cell games as have pushed the limits of the console... The most dissapointing thing was all the bad looking ports with aweful ps2 graphics when you knew the XBOX was capable of so much more... can't be said this gen though...colmusterd28
True, In this gen, the Consoles are very equal in terms of Poer and such.
The 360 harwdare has barely been used in current games, most are based on the multiplatform UE3.0, none is ground up made lately, and the CPU is totally underutilised as well
We have seen nothing yet, that is why games like Fable 2 and Alan Wake use 10x the detail than all previous 360 titles, and do some VAST worlds, with lighting that has never been done on any game yet, bar Crysis
360 is just staring to use its power with Fable 2 and Alan Wake, and will only get much better from there
Can you have 1 post where you don't mention Fable 2?The 360 harwdare has barely been used in current games, most are based on the multiplatform UE3.0, none is ground up made lately, and the CPU is totally underutilised as well

i have to admit fable 2 looks like one of the most exciting games coming out but i agree that this guy is a little obsessive.

Yes Fable 2 does look really promising, but will it be as good a saolin says it will be..........................noThe 360 harwdare has barely been used in current games, most are based on the multiplatform UE3.0, none is ground up made lately, and the CPU is totally underutilised as well

Give evidence of this. And not that we used "30%" of it's power crap. It's just optimisation, they're still using ALL the hardware for BOTH consoles. At least the good games.

Didn't GS post an interview that said Gears was using 30% of the 360's power? Also mark rein said it himself at the GDC last year and i think it has a Kokatu interview,
People here are claiming that the 360 maxed out(and all that crap), and we all know that isn't true. So i am thinking they might get these claims from the idea that the first xbox got maxed out real quickly, and thats the reason they make these claims. Also the 360 actually has CPU and GPU exclusively made for it, unlike the xbox which had old PC parts(like the pentium 3 CPU and geforce 3 GPU), so the xbox could actually be maxed out fast. Oh and for the record i didn'yt have a xbox.bigevil_rashekIt never did. It ended before we knew what could happen.
[QUOTE="Kantroce"]From a technical perspective, every game uses 100% of the processor cycles and memory all of the time. It is how engines are designed, with the goal being reduced amount of delay in memory allocation and garbage collection. If it hasn't been maxed out then why is there frame rate slowdown on a lot of games? 30 FPS FTMFW.
Yes, I own a 360. Yes, it has good games. No, it is not a powerful machine.
AmyMizuno
That may be, but in the end it's still not very powerful.

How do you measure 'not very powerful?' In certian areas, the 360 is MORE powerful than the PS3. For basic integer and general purpose calculations, the 360 blows the PS3 away. The Ps3 isn't very powerful either. They should just focus on making games and not trying to pull Crysis out of them.
xbox one only has a 733mhz p3 mobile chip. it would max out pretty fast .deadmeat59
well those 3.2ghz cores in the 360 = a whopping 2x the power per core

Listen anyone at this point besides that actual devs themselves claiming that any console is maxed out are just being fanboys plain and simple. Secondly half the people in here have absolutely no clue what they are talking about when making call such as that.

consoles =/= PC's.

There weren't 3Ghz quad core chips back then...
Look at the original Super Mario Bros and Super Mario Bros 3. Just because a machine isn't powerful by today's standards, it can't have graphical improvements.
I don't think developers ever truly hit the tecnhical ceiling with the Xbox. I think it still had some life left in it, but MS killed it off to make way for the 360 and developers abandoned it.
Had it had a year or two more, I think we would've seen some really impressive stuff (Well, impressive by last gen standards that is).
