You know HDMI isn't the only kind of HD cables, right? Component and VGA cables can be used to display up to 1080p as well, so don't worry so much about HDMI.

There are some real misconceptions about HDTV and HDMI. You don't need HDMI to get 1080p resolution. The HDMI is a way to rip off consumers ...it will probably become manditory in the future .. It is more or less a security measure for the media. A 1080p signal can be use by other cables...

if you're using your runofthemill cables then it'll still be good but not sharp, i got 2 hdmi cables off of ebay for a few bucks, and monoprice.com has them for cheap too
EDIT: component works too, just whatever you do don't buy expensive cables of any kind

The real question is how much of a difference does HDMI make when compared to componant/DVI/VGA... = not enough of a reason to get a HDMI cable if you already have an alternative HD cable.

So I guess the answer is it looks pretty darn good :D

I cannot tell any difference in picture quality between HDMI and Component. The only real difference is that HDMI makes it so that you can watch DVD movies that are upscaled to whatever resolution your TV is at. That's a nice convenience. Other than that, I can't tell any difference when it comes to video games.

Good info. Wow some educated people here at SW? who would have thunk it? HDMI is more of a way to keep people from coping movies and mediathen a actual better way of seeing HD.

The cables that come with the PS3 are composite cables (red, yellow, and white) and not capable of passing an HD image (or even a 480p image). You will need either component (red, green, blue, white, red) or HDMI.

those cables only support 480p, so you'll have to get either component or hdmi

I'm running my 360 with HDMI @ 720p and don't really notice much of a difference between those and the supplied component cables.

One benefit of HDMI with the 360 and PS3 is that it allows the console to upscale DVD's to HD resolutions. This isn't possible over component cables. The 360 can do it with VGA, but HDMI cables can be had cheaper in many cases than the VGA cable for the 360. Also, some TV's experience washout in colors with VGA.
