some games on the 360 like dead rising its hard to read the text. I never had problems with oblivion, and i'm sure there are other games, hd-tv is very nice, i would recomend you go find a nice one and pick it up.

Not true for all games, but Dead Rising and Lost plantet (Both made by Capcom) have really painful text. And if you played Dead Rising on an SD TV, but not Lost Planet, you have no idea of true pain.

honestly you can go out buy a computer monitor (or use one you already own) and some VGA HD cables for your 360 and play HD that way.

If you're spending $400+ on a gaming console I'm sure you can afford it.

How can they make that a problem, its never been a problem with previous gens :? That would have to be developers fault, and not the consoles if thats true.

i didn't have a problem with oblivion on sdtv,  but dead rising you have to squint and hold your mouth just right.  it was easier to just get out of bed and use the hdtv in the living room.

hmm that might have more to do with the resolution than the TV itself

I dunno, maybe it's because HD TV gaming didn't really exist back then. Did you ever think of that?

I switch Oblivion (XBOX 360) between my HD monitor and a regular TV all the time. Not hard to read the text at all. Nor with Gears of War. I suspect it's a bunch of technophiles trying to justify their $10,000 purchases on HDTVs saying that you can't read text on a regular TV..

Before I got my HDTV I was playing on a pretty old SDTV and only very rarely did I have trouble reading the text, but its not impossible to read, it is just a little blurry looking, its not that bad.

It might have been my pre-hd tv but I couldn't make out anything on GRAW, that was the hardest freaking tutorial of my life.

Does the the fact that we now have HDTV somehow downgrade SDTV to the point where text is unreadeble?

I've only played one game on my 360 on a SDTV(I don't even own a SDTV) and that was at work, I played Saints Row and it was hard to see the icons on the map.

Not true, I played most of Oblivion on a SDTV and the game text and graphics looked great. The only game that had problems with the Text was Dead Rising.

no,  they just make the print smaller than they used to.  it's not blurry,  just small.

And that was the point of my post, not the consoles fault but the developers.
