how in the bloody hell did gears recieve AAA from any reviewer?!?!

seriously, wtf? boring, repetitive, poorly designed gameplay is the order of the day with this pos. between the cliche ridden, story lacking, flat out mind numbingly dumb sp to the completely broken mp (host advantage yea!!!) i'll never EVER understand the love that piece of garbage recieves.

i've seen alot of great games go un-appreciated. fantastic games. games that deserved to sell tens of millions yet failed to reach 100000K. games that were dwarfed by this crap. kinda makes me lose what little faith i had left in humanity :P

It is pretty simple. Most reviwers are not Sony/Nintendo fanboys who can'taccept a good game that is on another console.

Gears of War is a great game. Better than those Treyarch-developed Call of Duty games you play. Oh, and better than Tenchu Z, too. ;)

Exactly. The Gears of War series is also awesome so it to deserves high scores. /topic

With the graphics, online co-op, multiplayer and polished gameplay its a AAA game. Just not a OMFG best game ever made GOTY game imo.

Squall is a great character who has a dramatic evolution over the course of the game, you don't have to like the actual game to appreciate a single character from it.

I think COD:WaW is going to be mediocre just like COD3, but that's just me.

Same here. Gears multiplayer with a bunch of friends is always a lot of fun.

Oh I've played gears long enough to list to back it up but then again I'd also probably know better than most whats really wrong with it. The fact is though any of the reasons we'd come up with would completely ignore the real reason its doing so well. It was simple, it appealed to the stereotypical gaming audience and male casual gamer and at the time there was room for another halo. All it needed was that critical acclaim for getting allot of things right and there you go.

Really on the face of it gears didn't get much wrong, it's the fundamental flaws in the multiplayer that start to come out after 10 matches thats the real turd on its solid record. I think epic know how to make a good multiplayer game better than most and most of the problems should be sorted now they've got a feel for things in 2 but however still on the subject of the first gears this pretty much sums it up: It's a team based shooter that's played like deathmatch. How much of that is epic's fault is debatable but it does make gears one of the worst team based shooter out there if your not playing with mates that is.

HD graphics, cover system, and its fun are a few. Remember when this game came out good HD graphics and Cover system were no where in any other games. hence pioneer = win.

Kill.switch on Xbox, PS2 and PC had similar cover system long before Gears. The cover system in Gears is almost a direct copy from Kill.switch.
