I noticed that Dead Rising 2 is coming to PC.
I have not played the first game. Is it a good franchise to get invested into? I have played a lot of Left 4 Dead 1/2 - how does it compare?

Don't play it on an SDTV. Save system sucks. Timed mission system sucks. But other than that it's a lot of fun, and it certainly fills your craving of zombie killing.tagyhaglol. This, it's tons of fun though for sure. I'd add in that the survivor AI is downright awful as well. :P
Save system with timed gameplay totally ruined it for me, and it doesnt look like they are fixing it for the sequal.
It's probably going to be like Lost Planet 2 all over again.
I don't like the save system, but that time system is awesome of you're not a panzy(or tagyhag in this instance) Dead Rising is gloriously awesome, and the sequel looks even more fun. You can connect a chainsaw to a paddle. I mean that's just brilliant :Pjg4xchamp
It's "if you're not a pansy" ;)
See? Mistakes CAN happen :D
I honestly didn't like it at all. The save system and timed missions broke the game for me. Not to mention I didn't even find it that fun :/ You do much better with left 4 dead IMO.
But considering how cheap you can get the game now? I know at retail there's the combo pack of Dead Rising, DMC 4, and Lost Planet which is alright. By itself though, I've seen Dead Rising for under $15. Or some stores (Wal-Mart) have those buy 2 plat hits games and get 1 free.I honestly didn't like it at all. I'm glad I only rented it, and I did give it a fair shot. The game was a disapointment to me.I honestly didn't like it at all. The save system and timed missions broke the game for me. It has some flaws, but it's completely worth playing, mainly because it's just a very unique and exciting open-world game. I didn't think the save system was that bad, it's basically the same as all the gta games (before gta4), in which you goto "safe houses". Also the timed aspect of the game is what makes it better, everything you do suddenly becomes much more intense, and it adds replay value to the game.
Dead Rising was a great idea gone bad.... It has some fatal game design flaws, some people were able to overlook them and have fun with the game anyway... I was not one of those people. I'm fairly certain that DR2 will improve and fix the problems that people had from the 1st game however..... or I hope so at least.
Even though I didn't like the 1st game very much, I do plan on getting the sequel.... assuming the save system, NPC AI and some other things are fixed/improved.
It's awesome. It takes time to get used to the save system and the time restrictions, but it's heaps fun once you do. I thought the time thing was great. It added to the tension. I do hope they improve the save system for the sequel though, or at least give us multiple save slots...
I think it's much much better than Left 4 Dead, but I always liked story based singleplayer games more than the ones that force you to play online to enjoy them...
Oh, and I played it on SDTV and was able to enjoy it. The text was tiny, but I really don't know what the guy who said "you won't be able to complete any missions in SD" meant...
[QUOTE="Karnage108"][QUOTE="genaroll"] I hope they don't change the save system,if people actually searched in the game which is what you have to do if you wanna have fun in it,they would know that there are alot of save spots. My favorite being the gym roomJuggernaut140True, except a auto-save feature would really help. Multiple save files would also be nice, for those who have multiple users on one console... If you have multiple people using a console then they should all have their own profiles. I don't see why multiple save slots are necessary.
Because if you save at the wrong time, you have no option but to start the game again. I didn't really appreciate being forced to replay half the game because of the dodgy save system. It wasn't a huge hassle in the end because I was able to get through it relatively quickly with my improved stats, but it still shouldn't be forced upon you like that...
its a fun game but its a repetitve. but the megaman buster makes the game little more easier. I think some of the bosses are kinda smiliar to those of re4. I'm not sure what have they done with the save slots, but they fix the gun shooting. and it does have co-op. My only problem is perhaps the 72 hour limit (though I don't think they go into futher detail on it) and no camera. Cause when you think about, the camera, on consoles atleast could have been similar to mgs4 camera. Im probably am going to pick it up (either on the 360 or the pc.).
the reason i bought a 360
totally fun (after you beat the game and get infinite time)
i was super sad though when Dead Rising 2 got pushed back.
Now i have to wait longer!
