System Wars users, buy both machines and enjoy ALL exlusives in the world . Oh, and Demon's Souls is worth the price of two PS3's . Best game in ten years .

Demon Soul's is one of the greatest games i played in 25 years of gaming. Its my top ten best game i EVER played out of 1000 of games or so that i played.

Well you cannot really have a sequel to Demon's Souls given the nature of the game and how the story works. Spiritual successor is what it is.

It´s also in some ways a similar situation with Xenogears and Xenosaga,I think.

I imagine we'll see the kind of relationship between DS and the new game like we saw between DS and King's Field. Same genre, with some of the same concepts carried over, and some things changed. All I know is they got my money already.

I know they assisted with development, but I'd find it very surprising if Sony could run blindly with the IP and From had no rights to it whatsoever, especially with From stating repeatedly that there would be no Demon's Souls 2. If they didn't have a say, you'd think they wouldn't make such a statement.

Gotcha, if true at least. Seems weird that a 3rd party company would develop a game - though admittedly with SCEJ's assistance - and because of that development contribution Sony gets the entire IP, and FS controls nothing. I mean, with Halo Bungie was a 1st party dev at the time and negotiated their own independence later. From was never a 1st party studio. You'd think that, if anything, they'd share the IP with Sony perhaps owning 1st right to publish.

But honestly, I don't know the inner workings of these kind of deals and the only info Google returns on the situation are forum posts making the claim. I can't find anything official saying this. Does anyone have anything concrete?

Its technically not Demon's Souls 2, just a game with similar mechanics and stuff. I actually would rather the actual Demon's Souls 2 comes out on 360 and PS3 then have to wait for it as I play this instead.

This, a spiritual successor with similar mechanics - at least from the looks of the trailer, is the closest thing that one could hope for.

I would be pissed if FROM SOFTWARE called this a King's Field sequel.Because the King's Field series are supposed to be in first person.
