How is it possible that FEAR is on 360 and PS3?

I just found out that the game is on both consoles...how is this possible? the game has absolutely PS2 visuals! its amazing how they even considered to port it with no graphics overhaul...and look at that the PS3 version was full of stuttering and frame rate issues.

for those wondering how the game looks on consoles

obviously the PC version looks better, but even then this are extremely lame graphics for a 360/ps3.

Im not implying that the consoles are crap and that they couldnt get near the PC level...both the console and the PC version dont look that different to be honest...im just saying, both the pc and console version look like a PS2 game...so how is it possible that this game ever reached the consoles?

The 360 version was a good port, the ps3 on the other hand was not.

Because some people don't own an epic PC yet still want another FPS so far be it from a developer to put it on consoles if it makes them more money?:P

Pretty sure some commas would help that sentence...and also some knowledge.:D

I played it on 360 as well as PC and didn't have a problem with the 360 version. Looked fine to me.

but other than that, side by side, Fear 1 is a joke compared to the sequel.

The plot, the weapons, atmostphere, gameplay diversity, setpieces, everything.

its a game from 2005...a game from 2005 that was released near the end of 2006 for 360 and in 2007 for PS3.

the game looks terrible, im just amazed it ever reached those consoles...even the launch titles for both looked ages better than fear.

and MGS3, a 2004 ps2 game looks much better than fear

The first one almost doesn't have a plot all the story comes from telephone messages, it was a poor way to tell the story back then and it's even worse now.The first time I played through it I could barely tell you what happened ( I've played all 3 multiple times).

The scares from the first game are only scary because 60% of the game is pure boredom. Nothing happens for so long that your caught off guard with one of the few jump scares, The only time I was impressed was with the final level which was the only genuinly creepy part of the game. Fear 2's atmosphere is much better and diverse, you have both the cheap jump scares along with much better psychological ones, Fear 2 has more than 4 (or was it 5) environments.

Don't argue with me on this I've played them multiple times back to back. I know what I'm talking about.

Totally agree...oh and the shotgun in particular was BEAST in F.E.A.R. 1, one of the best shotguns EVER.

To the OP...the game on a good HDTV looks very nice on 360, I've heard the PS3 version sucked though.

Regardless of the graphics (which are great), F.E.A.R.s gameplay and story is one of the best I've (and most people who have played it) have ever seen in gaming history, fantastic game.

I don't get what point you're trying to make...it was at original release a benchmark for PC graphics, the 360 port looked very nice and it's one of the highest rated FPS games in history and one of the reasons for that was the graphics!

I agree that it despite being one of the best looking games ever in 2005, its 360 2006 port looked only GOOD compared with great-looking games like Gears of War etc...

heres an Uncharted 2 bullshot

the game is much more blurry and has jaggies everywhere like all console games (except GOW3), running at 30fps in 720p, 2009, keep in mind Uncharted 2 has low res textures everywhere hidden by bloom, the AI is dumb

here is Fear 1, no jaggies, sharp textures due to AF, 1080p/1440p/1600p, 60/120fps, 2005, best Ai in any FPS, textures have aged well, no brown and bloom and smoke and mirrors like console games, character models are worse then Uncharted 2, everything else is better

here is one without the slow mo blur (which just looks awesome imo)
