How is PC gaming better than console gaming this generation?

I don't understand why people say that...What are the countless number of amazing exclusives the PC has THIS GENERATION (don't give me that 1990 Baldurs Gate stuff) that completely wipe the floor with the console market? How is PC gaming bigger than console gaming when they struggle to sell a million copies...The only good PC exclusive I can think of is Crysis, which has been confirmed to to be soon ported to the 360/PS3 during an interview with EGM. Crytek themselves said they are tired of piracy and won't be supporting the PC platform exclusively.

Hopefully Spore, D3 and SC2 and Dawn of War 2 will be amazing. But we don't know that for sure. SC2 looks medicore from what I've seen but I hope Blizzard pulls it off. D3 I haven't seen anything and Dawn of War 2 looks awsome. Spore im picking up the first day of release :).

It's a more divergent market. There is no standard PC, there are more games that range from the ultra hardcore to the ultra casual, meaning there's more to buy and everything sells a little less.

It's actually pretty amazing some of the games that manage to sell a million (think Sins of a Solar Empire and the Witcher) which have little to no publicity and whose developers were first timers.

It not only has more exclusives than any single console, it has more exclusives than all of them combined so far this generation.

As for advantages, superior visuals the system is capable of, the mature and free online capabilities and perks like user created content that go hand in hand with an open platform seem to captivate many gamers.

There is no difference between console gaming and PC gaming. It's all in fanboys heads. I was playing Diablo 2 all of last week on a PC. And this week I'm playing Ninja Gaiden 2 and Ace Combat 6 on my 360. Guess what they were all the same, they are all video games, they were all fun. And there are a million other things more important than them, and more worthy of your time in this world.

Because some people just prefer it.

Some of the benefits of playing pc's are most gamers are mature rather than being kids that still think its funny to say words like gay alot. Also with first person shooters, a dedicated pc gamer can enjoy better graphics and the exclusives often have much bigger playing fields with better AI, larger servers and more options to play with. Some people just find a mouse a better tool for most games to not to mention the pc has so many more peripherals and more variety.

Three consoles is more expensive than one PC unless it's needlessly outfitted with the most expensive parts.

I agree that it has better controls for FPS and RTS. The user content is awsome (I love Oblivion mods) which is one of the greatest bonus' of PC gaming. However, I think that too get best graphics, you need a very good PC since companies don't optimize well these days sadly. Online is free, but not necessarily better since the community may not be that big.

"The Best" is subjective concept, tho one could argue that PC has more AAEs and AAAEs than other platforms. But even then if jRPGs and fighters are your main beef you're better off with a console.

But personally, I've just enjoyed Stalker, SOASE, The Witcher, NWN2, DS1, Audiosurf, GalCiv2, Civ4, Race07, G3 as well as countless multiplat titles like ME, GeoW, Bioshock, DiRT, TOB. All look good and play good. It's a matter of taste but to me these are the games I want to play and PC is the only platform that lets me do this.

1. The list I provided is up to date while the one you provided is outdated, not to mention the fact that the games in your list are not all exclusives and some are on the PC.

2. The PC AAAE list contains FPS, RTS, Racing, TBS and MMORPG. Now looking at the 360 exclusive you get FP, Racing and TPS.
