720 launch will be either 2009 or 2010 at the latest (probably 2009,lol) , that is what what my crystal ball says. The thing that scares me the most is the final year of support leading up to their next-box ...... they don't have a good track record there.

A 4 year cycle is obviously too short. I don't see a new xbox until 2011.

Seriously, 3 years is the answer. Once the warranty runs out anyone who has an X360 is screwed.

All signs point to a new Xbox in 2011.

The x360 hasn't even hit $200 yet and MS is already making a profit on it. The x360 has already hit its stride and will keep on strong for years to come.

Id be willing to bet that MS will announce their next console by E3 2009 and it will be launched holidays 2010. MS isnt going to sit around and wait for Sony or Nintendo. But that being said, MS had better have their ducks in a row if they are the first out the gate again. Imo these are the mistakes made with the 360.....

* add ons are useless. There is way too much segregation of the XBOX population with the whole HDD or no HDD...WiFi or no WiFi...blah blah blah!!! The next XBOX console had better have a standard save system and WiFi built in from the get go. You here me MS? NO ADD ONS!!!

* pricing SKU's....Get away from the bare bones model and the Uber loaded model thing! I cant imagine it is better for MS finacially to have multiple SKU's. Launch ONE console. If gamers can afford it, they will buy it! If they cant, well then stay with the 360!!! Its that simple.

* Games, games and more games. The 360 launch was decent but not spectacular! If I am MS, I am telling EPIC, Bungie, RARE, EA and UbiSoft to get your biggest guns ready for the next XBOX's launch!!! The next XBOX should launch with the likes of Gears 3, Halo 4, Madden 2011, Perfect Dark 2, a new Splinter Cell or Rainbow Six and more!!!

with the recent blu-ray victory over HD-dvd, i'm guessing MS will release the Xbox 380 or whatever its called around late 2009.

so i'll give it 2 more years may be?

PS every six years, Nintendo on the decline five years, and xbox on its current pattern of four years.

Did MS say that they were staying with the 360 for six years or something? Because thats what I'm hearing around. I have missed that comment.

360 will last about another 2, maybe 3 years if Money$oft doesn't decide to say "hey everyone, we made a new console! all those 360 games and dowloads we stole your money from will be completely worthless! buy our new xbox. only $200/year for laggy online service! great deal!"

Why TF do 360 fanboys say 360 is doing good because it's already making profi!??!?!?! the only reason it's making profit is because Money$oft is stealing $50 per year from 360 owners for online service. M$ acts like such a money grabbing wh**r.

That would require the PS3 to sell about 400k MORE than the 360, every month.

since sony said that the PS3 would be intil around 2011-2012 i guess microsoft won't be in any hurry. Anyway they still think they are selling well, but everyone knows they are counting replacements. All in all by 2012 there will be around 20 mill xboxs!! but only 700 still working ;)

i say at least seeing how sucessful it is now. when it sucessful for 2 years in a row, with the rule of them u multipky it by 3 and that its life span, look at the ps2, 3 succesfl years in a row, its lasting 8 years so far and has one more year left util it left out. same will happem to 360, but give it 6 years unless this year is sucessful, that 3 years good, it'll be like the ps2 then....only reason i can think of new consoles coming out is: Super low cost with amazing jump from these 360's and ps3, or game just demand more, not a big jump, but a big demand for hardware...so it'll still last awhile imo
