How long until Xbox's new first party gives us quality exclusives?

It seems like since MS bought these companies only recently, it may be a while until we see some quality first party content from them. With next gen coming up soon, do you think they will make it in time to show case the new system? MS does have Halo and Gears to fall back on, but I don't know how much of an effect those games will have in the new gen.

I'm thinking mid generation it's taken naughty dog a long time time to get the quality.

I would assume they are holding back for next gen launch. So whenever that stuff starts getting announced.

Of course I'm not yet convinced they are going to have a bunch of new AAA IP's or anything. Many of these are smaller studios. But I'm sure they will have at least 1 or 2 IP's, and of course Halo and Forza. Probably sprinkled in with some indie type games.

Technically they already have since MS announced purchasing Playground Games at E3

I don't expect playground or the initiatives games to come until at least mid gen maybe longer. MS need to target AAA quality.

When the new next-gen Xbox (Scarlet) console arrives and then, we'll start seeing new Xbox 1st quality exclusives since they have been busy purchasing new studios after all.

I don't think we are going to see anything worth while in a long time hate to say it but probably not even this gen. I love my XoX but its not the box I turn on when I want to play an exclusive and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

People love to forget that it took sony over two years for the ps4 to get a decent exclusive - and even that’s debatable as they were niche japanese games or qte movies. Their fanboys just shrugged it off as ‘well, we have 1080p’ on a few multiplats. In fact, some of those 1080p games suffered in other performance to make this claim. They were even proven to have lied about one of their titles to be native 1080p when it wasn’t.

@Sevenizz: Ps4 had Bloodborne less than 2 years after release. Xboxone hasn't released anything close to as good in its lifetime.

You left out "IMO".

Launch date of Scarlet, with then a roadmap announced for 2 years after. There are so many games in my backlog honestly that I personally have enough with the upcoming Metro Exodus, Cyberpunk 2077, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Anthem and Red Dead Redemption 2. Those are all huge games that will last me for the coming years. Maybe I am not hardcore enough to want to buy new titles every month I guess.

@Sevenizz: Lol Titanfall wasn't an xbox exclusive. It's also a forgotten title and now a dead franchise. Meanwhile people pine for BB2 daily and was a far larger critical success.

No one knows if it pays off this generation, but it this generation is basically over, and we know for a fact all these studios are gonna make next generation better. Go ahead and hate on the One, but don't hate on Xbox and it's future.

Clearly MS is 100x cooler than they were in 2013. They've done so many internal shifts, its not even the same company as it was back then, ran by idiots.

I'm a Phil Spencer fanboy, but thats cause he's only done amazing things since Holiday 2015, people were fanboys of Kaz or Iwata, cause they always brought good news to their fans. So as long as I've had Xbox, its only got better.

Titan fall was a success that immediately got a sequel greenlit. Bloodborn is a reskinned Souls game. Deal with it.

Tbh I can wait for decades if MS keeps releasing it on PC as well. Might have to save some for a new rig depending on how next gen's mid gen refresh goes.

@fedor: Titanfall & Bloodborne sold roughly 3 million units on the X1 & ps4 respectively. Given the ps4 has almost double the amount of consoles in the wild means the X1 version has a higher attachment. Therefore, a much greater success.

Regardless of who’s ‘pining’ away for a BB sequel, Titanfall has already had one so your point is moot.

Just a piece of advice.. VGChartz has been ridiculed here for years...

If MS is smart, theyd end this generation on a high note and build good will for their brand before Scarlet launches. If they are cheap opportunists, they will try to front load the Scarlet launch and leave us all scratching our heads as to whether they have bolstered quality control as a publisher until after the fact.

Anyway, I think we'll start seeing the new studios bearing fruit a year or so into "next gen". The studio that's probably furthest out from release is The Initiative, you'd assume, since they are still on a hiring spree. I expect we'll see Playgrounds' new game (Fable?) maybe 2020/2021, same with Ninja Theory. Compulsion is still probably at least 3-4 years away since they just released We Happy Few. Undead Labs will probably release a more fleshed-out State of Decay 3, maybe in 3 years or so. The Coalition will obviously work on Gears 6, which will probably release in 2021, but I have a feeling that they are working on something else too.

The big question for me is when Halo Infinite will release. I wouldn't be surprised if it released alongside Xbox Scarlett, in 2020 (and of course release on current systems too).

Remember according the lemmings, if a game comes out on the PC it's exclusive to Xbox because... well I don't even know.

I predict after 3 cancellations and 4 delays we'll see the first AAA from MS on 2025 but it will be sadly an unfinished mess so they'll close the studio.

More then likely next gen launch titles or close as...... but....why is everyone assuming these studio's have nothing?

Gorilla Games developed Horizon:ZD along side Killzone:SF so what makes people think these studio's wasn't already working on something?

They very well could of pitched a working game to Microsoft for all we know.

AAA games take a long time to develop these days. It's a safe bet on a "big budget" game taking 3 years or more from inception. This would suggest these studios will start to bear fruit "mid gen". That being said, that assumes they aren't using existing ideas and assets - which they might opt to do. Or, they might even be working on a game at the time of MS acquisition. In fact, I'd say that is likely. So it is possible some of,the new hires will have a game ready for or near launch

Sunset Overdrive came out in the first year of the Xbox One didn't it?
