Going from the sewers to the end of the main story can take someone determined to complete it as quickly as possible and using a couple tricks about 8-10 hours. One of those tricks being 100% chameleon.
If you know what to do, it would take about 4 or 5.

They are side quests, there is a main quest(required) and then there are side quests(optional).
And I don't think the main quest is any where close to 40% of the game. Just the guilds and arena make the main quest seem relatively short.

I'm debating between the 360 version (for rumble) and the PS3 version (for enhanced graphics/smoother framerate). Which one should I get?[QUOTE="ArisShadows"]That short?foxhound_fox

I'm debating between the 360 version (for rumble) and the PS3 version (for enhanced graphics/smoother framerate). Which one should I get? I never known Elders Scrolls with rumble, because I had Morrowind on PC.. I don't think much is different. I am not sure on PS3 downloadable content, but their is achievements and that on 360.. Whichever, I am jealous because I still need new specs for it on my PC>kyarite it takes you longer than 2-4 min.. .sorry buster. useLOGIC
If you equip yourself with 100% chameleon and run constantly to the top of the tower, without fighting anything and get the sigil stone it would only take about 2-4 minutes. Some of the later gates would take longer seeing as how they are bigger.

I'm debating between the 360 version (for rumble) and the PS3 version (for enhanced graphics/smoother framerate). Which one should I get? They're equal to me. I mean the graphics on the 360 are fine and they have AA too boot. The PS3 has some quicker load times which be the main pro I would care about. Rumble doesn't really matter to me.
What I would consider is content. The Xbox 360 you know has and will get more content, little is know on this subject for the PS3.

Um... 8-10 hours...
Idonomeus
No way. I'm going through the main quest and not doing any side quests. I have clocked 24 hours so far.
Depends on your character design. An alchemist/fighter will plow through the game with heavy hitting poisoned attacks compared to a most character types.

Well I'm sure you could complete the game quicker but it's my first time through and I'm not doing a speed trial or anything. I don't go invisible to avoid fights or anything like that. I'm just enjoying the game and going at a pace that's fun for me.

So do i. Even if there were no load times and you knew exactly where to go you couldn't walk through most Oblivion gates in that time.

You have to define "Side Quest" in a game like Oblivion.
Oblivion has the Main Quest, and then all the Guilds, and then there are side quests.Â
The Guilds are the "Meat and potatoes" of the game and are not side quests at all.
Â
If you wanted to complete all the guild quests and the Main quest, it will prolly take you 80-100 hours. But then if you add in Nights of the nine and the upcoming Shivering Isles, then it will be well over 100 hours.Â

Do you have to play through the guides to complete the main plot of the game? No. Thus the guides are side quests. Whether they are the majority of the content or not doesn't stop the fact you don't need to ever play through any single one of them to "beat" the game.
