in the 15 million user to date how many brought for blueray only

because i know electronics's stores push the ps3 as a blueray player only to new hd costumer.

so i will guessing 40% brought the ps3 as blueray player only because is the cheapest BR player.

This would aply to me, I've owned mine since March 08, and only have 4 games, but have 15 Blu-ray movies. My 360 is still my prefered platform though.

given that "blueray" doesn't exist, I'd say most of them.

I haven't bought a single Blu Ray yet, I don't have a HDTV. I'll give them a go once I get one though.

You think people who have no intention of playing video games will honestly by a video game system for their media player. Why do people act like you either have to by it for games OR Blu ray movies. Why can't it be BOTH?? I know thats why I bought it for both.

As for your amazing guesstimation, thats hardly the case, the PS3 has the same game attach ratio as the Wii and 360 (when it was the same age) which is 5 to 1. So can this myth get put to rest I mean come on. When the PS3 launched all I heard was "Video game systems dont effect Format Wars!!" now all of a sudden with the PS3 outselling the 360 everywhere its now "People by the PS3 as a cheap Blu ray player!!"

40% is a rediculously high number to pull out of thin air, I'd say maybe 5-10% may have purchased it for Blu-Ray only. and even so, the temptation to get games for a system you shelled out that much for is rather high, give it some time and those movie goers will be buying the games too. It's PS1 allover again, tons bought it for the DVD player then eventually started geting games for the system as well.

I got it for games first. But since I have an HDTV why not buy blu ray movies too? Anyone with an HDTV should really get a blu ray player, the quality of the video and sound is incredible.

So tell me how many DVDs do have and how many 360 games do you have?? Movies cost like 22-30 dollars and are released every week while good games dont release every week for any system. All that says is that you like movies, not that you bought your PS3 for JUST movies.

games is 1st priority for me when I buy a gaming console

Kinda stupid question to ask on GAMEspot anyway...

I bought it for gaming. I still have an sdtv, and I only have the 5 blu-rays that came free (only three of which I like, The Prestige, American Psycho, and Full Metal Jacket, SWAT and flight of the pheonix are crap). The only blu ray movie I can see myself buying in the future is The Wizard of Oz, and perhaps Dark Knight.
