Maybe when the prices come down a bit more and when there are more channels available in HD.

Then again, one of my TVs still uses rabbit ears, so maybe never. :(

I have one, but only because the electric company screwed up and fried my old TV (and a few other appliances). Bought one with the insurance settlement.

HDTVs are great for movies and TV, but over-rated for gaming. The only real plus to HD gaming is the 16:9 aspect ratio.

I got one last year, and after playing in HD I cant go back. It's funny to see the huge differences of the same game on an HDTV and a tube tv.

I play on a 36 inch SDTV. The reason I don't have a HDTV yet is because I don't think I can fit a 40 inch 1080p HDTV in my hutch, I can't afford one since I've been buying games like mad, and my parents don't support HD programming even though there are 2 HDTVs in the house..freakin waste of money. I watch SD programming on the HDTVs downstairs and it looks like crap. So, when I do get the money...I'm not sure if I'm going to even want one still.

I'll probably be getting a 20 inch hdtv next month though.

Having played the 360 on a SDTV until I recently bought a Philips 42" LCD flat panel HDTV 1080p, I can honestly say there is a HUGE difference.

In some cases, I can even see people better from farther away in multiplayer FPS.

People that say HDTV is a waste of money, and there's not much difference either haven't actually seen an HDTV, orthey're just upset that they can't get one.

Playing my 360 on a 37" Phillips Ceneos HDTV (1080i).
It's awesome, but not for my Wii... I play my Wii on a JVC widescreen SDTV.

Don't have problems when switching from playing consoles, however... my 360 looks HORRIBLE on the JVC and my Wii looks horrible on the Phillips. :P

I recently bought a Samsung 32" HDTV in my room and I cant go back to SD. To those who are still waiting or reluctant to get one, I would say that its worth it especially at the right price.

Don't have one yet, have no intention of getting one anytime soon. More interested in investments that make me money right now. Since the only HDtv I would want is 52" I would just feel guilty buying it.

Besides my PC, the Wii is my only home console and since it is only 480p I haven't been real compelled to get one yet (when I had my 360 I played on my PC monitor). I'm actually more interested in the OLED technology that is coming out real soon. With a good scaler chip I bet SD content could look better on one of those sets then it does on an SDTV, unlike most HDTV's now where SD Content doesn't look too hot.

yes, OLED technology looks really cool because of the very thin screen. But are you sure it comes out soon? Maybe in japan, because they always seem to getnew technology first for some reason:?

meme378

For Gaming purposes, LCD is a better choice. Plasma screens have a tendency to "burn in" images into their screens if something is in the same spot for too long, and since many games use a Heads Up Display of some sort that ALWAYS show in the same spot of your screen, It might cause some burning in to a Plasma screen.

Anyway, HD gaming is fantastic if you have a PS3 or 360, there is just so much mroe detail that you wouldn't see in SD.

I use a 32inchHDRV capable of 1080i (I use 720p for gaming, of course),and It works good enough for me, altough in the near future I might buy a 32 inch Sony Bravia...My brother recently got a 52 inch Sony Bravia for his gaming setup, and I was jealous (not of the size) of the quality of the HD, it's about 3x as crisp as mine is.

I have a 26" Samsung HDTV, which has everything hooked up to it - PC, Mac, Wii, 360 and PS2. The Mega Drive is also up there sometimes but my desk is far too small to accomadate it permenantly. The Wii, 360 and PS2 all use the same component cables, handy little gizmo made by Mad Catz.
