This is a question for Sony loyalists such as yourself, which console was dead last in specs out of Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft last generation? OH MY GOD! It was Sony with their Playstation 2! The specs didn't hurt the quality nor quantity of the games and it's definitely not doing that now. The 360 isn't quite as inferior as you imply with that remark. The PS3 has yet to match what Gears of War had achieved tech-wise.
For the second enlarged section; no one is going to buy the PS3 for Blu-Ray. Am I crazy? Not at all, good sir. Less than 25% of homes have an HDTV so they don't require HD movies. Also, it's still going to take a while for DVDs to loose thier steam. Add into the combo that there are now Blu-Ray players that can match and do better than the PS3 in price and that immediately makes Blu-Ray function useless.
Awesome games? The PS3's Library is, so far, inferior to the 360's in terms of quality exclusive titles. You can play all the great multiplatform games you want, but, with the exception of Oblivion, you might as well just have played them on a 360.
Sony's online service is a joke. Ask anyone who has used that and Live and they will tell you that Microsoft's service is far superior. It's not like Live is even that expensive; anyone who can afford these systems and games for them can afford the $50 a year Live costs. The service that Microsoft offers is way ahead of Sony.
I'm not saying all of this because I'm a fanboy or anything. In fact, I'm going to buy a PS3 sometime in a few months when its better games start to be released for it. But there is no denying that all of what I said is fact. I'm almost certain that the PS3 is going to come up dead last this generation and I have no problem with that. It doesn't mean that the games are going to be bad, the GC's sales were horrible and it got RE4 first. Once you stop blindly following a company that you have no part of you'll finally realize that being a fanboy just makes you loose out on the opportunity to try the best of everything.
Pretty good post and i agree that being a fanboy cuts your gaming options in 1/2 or 1/3 but for most consumers having two or three consoles is too much. Sadly, i dont have as much money or free time as i would like so i stick to the console that would give me the most for my money. And that is the PS3 with MGS and FF... for now. :)
