How many of you will be jumping into Counter-Strike 2?

System Wars is mainly filled with console gamers. Of course they're going to act like they don't give a shit. Copium.

I think Valve has given up on console users and settled that they will forever be a slave to whatever Call Of Duty comes out in the next 10 minutes.

Going to be awesome, however, people play video games, a lot. People played Counter Strike. A lot. People would wipe the floor with me.

For sure I'll play a few matches, but I doubt I'll spend any serious time with it.

News to you kid, I'm a PC gamer and I personally don't give a damn about Counter-Strike games. So why throw in the copium for? Why do we need it?

I still play CSGO. Used to play semi-professionally and I'm kinda excited with CS2.

Played a bit of it way back in the day but honestly never really cared for it. Won’t be playing Counter Strike 2 by default though since I don’t have a capable PC to do so. Don’t really give a shit about it though regardless.

Always hated the shit outta this series. Will never play anything related to CS.

Be more open to getting into it if they updated it more.

Get the whole "if it ain't broke" with quality of life stuff.

But, donno, add in new modes like VIP escorts? Objective stuff like RTCW/ET?

At same time though, people like comfy thing they are use to, so get why Valve just wouldn't bother if everyone is just going to end up playing the classic mode anyways.

It has been over 20 years since I last played CS and I was never a fan. I will try CS2 for the smoke and graphics overhaul though and go from there.

Yeah, Q3 and UT kid here. Never played CS, and don't plan to try CS2.

Not my cuppa. I'm not really interesting in competitive games. Unreal tournament against bots was my jam back in the day.

I'm don't care about any MP games at this point, especially the "competitive e-sports" crap.

This game was annoying with cheaters years back and it's probably worse now. Otherwise I quite enjoyed CS for the couple years I played it.

Never been a fan of CS. way too many sweaty try hards who play CS and nothing but CS and know every square inch of every map.

but hey, it'll probably be better than Valorant at least.

Well, if the game can still run on a potato then I'll try it out on the ROG Ally since I'm also getting a mouse, keyboard, and controller.

Games like this aren't exactly the reason I pre-ordered one, but I might see how it runs. I'm pretty sure the Steam Deck runs it at high settings at over 100 fps, so its something the Ally shouldn't have any problems with.

Yea, you're right. It's a problem the game has now and has had for a very long time.

Extremely high skill bar. Combine that with a toxic community. If you're more interested in dipping your toes it, generally not a pleasant time.

The Deck runs CS:GO fine. But there isn't any way it can compete with kb/m. I tried it. No way. So I have my serious doubts about CS2 being competitive on the Deck.

Counter-Strike on the OG Xbox and CS:GO on the PS3 and 360 were nearly unplayable with a controller.

They are too busy playing shooters with their shitty tank aim at 30-60 fps with high input lag.

And think they're gods thanks to strong bullet magnetism with little to no recoil.

Tried CS: Source. Not really for me.

I've never played any CS game. Not interested in competitive FPS of this nature. I much prefer Battle Royale like PUBG and Apex Legends.

To be frank though I haven't played CS for years, though it was one of my main games in the late 90's/early 00's (along with Diablo 2).

I hope they don't **** it up by adding leveling and unlocks and all that bullshit. Would be nice to play something where everyone has even footing, all the time, and the game is based solely on skill.

I dislike Call of Duty, and I don't like what Battlefield has become of late...I just want a nice, vanilla online shooter where all I have to do is play and I don't have to worry about unlocking crap.

I put hundreds of hours on the series. Source was the one I ended up putting the most hours. I eventually got tired of the game and stopped. Once OW1 came out I stopped playing CS:GO. And now I don't even play that much OW2, that game is basically dead and it just came out. I won't be playing this new game. Doesn't even look that much different than GO.

Quake 3 was super shitty, we all know all the cool kids played unreal tournament!

But yeah will probably play a little and get completely owned by some 9 year old kid, which undoubtedly will lead me to write an angry post of the forum where I complain about all the cheaters:)

I legit thought this was a troll thread. I had no idea Counter Strike 2 was announced. That's an earth-moving announcement for the PC world. Valorant am cry.

I'm now awaiting Team Fortress 3's move to Source 2 as my most anticipated game of the new decade. That would make my Steam friends list absolutely explode with excitement. TF2's class-based approach and popularity literally changed FPS gaming for PC and consoles forever. There is no Overwatch or class-based CoD/Battlefield/Battlefront without the wild success of Team Fortress 2. And in many ways, none of those games equal what TF2 does with its classes. Those who've played Spy in TF2 know that the level of excitement and exhiliration that comes with sneaking up on an enemy that thinks your an ally, stabbing them in the back in the middle of their team and getting away is like...the best feeling in all of FPS gaming. lol

What an insane announcement. But not surprising given Valorant encroaching on their territory. Everybody is going to come back home for Counter Strike 2. No contest at all. Especially if everyone's old cosmetics are coming over 1:1.

I also never got into CSGo. I was busy with: UT '99 - 2004 --> TF2 + Halo --> MW and Battlefield --> Overwatch --> Destiny 2 + OW2 + TF2. A little Valorant mixed in but not that much.

100% going to give CS2 a try, though. Though I'll be at a helluva disadvantage vs players who've been playing CSGo for literally a decade.

I mainly play Counterstrike for the community modded game modes such as Zombie Escape. I only play competitive if I have a friend with me. Counterstrike sucks if you're use to playing ADS shooters like COD and Battlefield and the people who play CS are hardcore. A lot of Counterstrike is recoil control which is why it is best to stand still or crouch when shooting. Don't trust your crosshair to be 100% accurate I learned that after firing repeatedly for a certain amount your bullets will fly outside the crosshair zone.

Yeah never got into CS. Was also more about Quake/UT life. Was pretty bummed when new UT got swept to the side for fork knife. Was having a really good time with it.

I'm sure CS2 will be good shit. But if I'm gonna invest time/effort in some competitive MP, just keeping it to fighting games from now on. Been like that for years now, pretty much my favorite shit anyways.

Quake lacked decent maps and the weapons didn't differentiate themselves enough compared to Unreal Tournament. The click sound that occurred after each hit marker was annoying as hell as well.

Quake 3's maps were light years better than UT.

UT had far more features and mods and generally, more casual appeal to jump in and play.

Quake 3 was a masterclass in level design. Far more finite and traditional in design, but excelled fully at what it set out to achieve.

Quake 3: Team Arena? Another story. That was trying to be UT. And badly.

Real question. Is this basically just a big update for CSGO. Like OW to OW2 was??

@judaspete: Dreamcast only had one analogue stick right. How was it for handling shooters?

First consoles that really sold me on being able to handle shooters, and I know a lot of people will say N64, but for me it was PS2 with MOH Frontline and Rising Sun and of course the OG Xbox with Halo and Halo 2.

I might try it out. I still enjoy playing Counter-Strike to this day.

I mean... its Counterstrike. it'll be a engine refresh and thats probably about it. likely some minor tweaks that will only matter if your a hardcore CS player.

but at least unlike OW2, it won't be a pathetic ploy to bring back players since its already the biggest game on Steam.

@R4gn4r0k: The four face buttons were a stand-in for the second stick. Terrible framerates too. You spoiled kids would call it clunky, but working around the jank made you into a man.
