How many people are hyping Fallout 3, not having ever played the first two?

This is just a dying curiosity because it seems that most of the people who are hyping Fallout 3 have no knowledge of its predecessors. People are already sold with the "Oblivion with guns" theme.

I am. I can't say I have zero knowledge about the other 2, as I did reasearch the Fallout series when I learned about Fallout 3. Still, I don't think anyone needs to know a series to get into it.

Well, it is Bethesda. That's reason enough to hype it.

Im guessing you would have to be a Fallout fan to like this game. I didn't like it as much after hearing all the buzz on it.

It looked boring to me.

I think most of the people here have never played Fallout 1 and 2 and therefor are hyping Fallout 3. Now i really liked Oblivion so im looking forward to this game somewhat but as a Fallout fan im quite dissapointed as it seems to lack alot that made the other two Fallout games so good.

I don't know it just did. Not my type of game. I wanted to give it a chance after seeing the buzz and reading about the game. It didn't interest me one bit. Well, the story did a little. Likes just say, I would rent it, not spend $60 for it.

Bethesda tried really hard to screw up Oblivion, and I'm willing to bet they can do it again with Fallout!

I wouldnt say im hyping it, but it is a game im excited for and i never touched the other games in the series. I was one of the people who actually enjoyed oblivion but i do hope they dont make it "oblivion with guns" like you said...im actually getting a lot more of a "bioshock above ground" feel

If by hyping it then you mean highly interested and excited for it, then me. I wanted to play the fist two back when they came out, but ending up spending all of my time with Diablo 1 and 2, Half Life, Carmageddon 2, Grand Theft Auto 1 and 2. Those literally took way too much of my time lol.

I can't help but be hyped after reading the latest hands on from IGN.

Some of the things that are said are Just Wow.

"Before I go on, though, please understand -- calling Fallout 3one of the most impressive videogames of the year in a season that has already brought us Metal Gear Solid 4 and Grand Theft Auto IV isn't meant to be hyperbole. Even in its unoptimized stage (all the content is there, development is just about polish from now until October), Fallout 3 is still one of the most engaging and playable titles this side of Liberty City... and I've only tested it for about an hour.

The level of detail in Fallout 3 is astounding.Bold proclamations for such a small amount of hands-on time, yes, but words I'll stick behind as a fan on the Elder Scrolls. In fact, Fallout 3 is very much Oblivion in a post-apocalyptic world. So if you didn't like that game, or the series for that matter, then ignore everything I've said thus far and go read something else. If, however, you spent 200+ hours in Cyrodiil like I did, or just love western-****RPGs, then you should keep going -- because your next big adventure is just over the next hill."

Never played a Fallout game in my life but im very exited for Fallout 3, it wasn't really the idea of Oblivion with guns that grabbed my attention, I was pleased with Oblivion and want a good new RPG, Fallout 3 seems like a great choice.
