19 Years. I'm more of a casual gamer enjoying my share of FPS, TPS , RPG across various gaming platforms but can't say i'm a PRO level gamer yet.
Well?
since 25 plus years.
Been playing games for 35 years. I'm pretty good at some stuff.
"Pro level gamer" sounds ridiculous, and I'd rather not use that term.
you must be 55 year old lol. many users here are 40 50 plus but sadly most act like still childs.
Since the mid 90's. Started playing casualy on PC. The og RE pushed me into gaming but paused for a few years until RE3 pulled me back. DMC (exclusive to PS2 at the time) pushed me into PS and console gaming. Since then I played and beat well over 300 games in my life time.
What do you mean by "pro level"? Do I play professionaly? No. I'm not a competitive gamer in the slightest. I do very much enjoy the medium though and love collecting games
I’m a casual gamer very much. Been gaming since about 1979-1980. I was 5-6 years old, and I think I had an Atari 2600 or a Gemini, but not sure? I’d go to the arcade whenever I could when I was in the city with my older brother. I’m far from being a professional gamer level,I’m nothing but a much lower level game player. I’m 50 years old btw.
Atari 2600.... 1982...42 years this Christmas.
I would say the phrase pro gamer is cringe to my old man ears... But I've always been pretty good at games. My local legend 75-0 street fighter 2 record still stands.... Oddly enough I lost all my friends the same day.
But seriously, if I sucked at the games I like to play id probably lose interest quick. I just wish I kept track of every game I've beaten since 82. I usually play every game all the way through, well, maybe 85 percent of them... I've gotta be in the hundreds at this point!?
I don't think I'm better than the norm at games... Except in Ollie Ollie... I'm world class on that sum'bitch
Been playing since the mega drive days in the early nineties. Definitely not a pro level gamer but never really took gaming that seriously. Also treated it as a hobby.
i've been gaming since the late 80s. when you grow up with arcade games when every three deaths cost you money and you're playing things like ghouls n ghosts, jet set willy, and paperboy you git gud pretty quick. i hit my peak in my teens. i was a wizard on streetfighter 2, could beat it on level 7 with any fighter. could do that with ken, ryu and guile without taking a single hit. pretty sure i would've beaten @TheEroica no problem ;)
i mastered super mario kart with bowser. a nice surprise was visiting a retro arcade several years ago with a famicom set up with mario kart and discovering the timing to power slide around every corner on just about every track was burnt into my muscle memory and i beat everyone who wanted a race that night.
there were loads of games like that i was really good at throughout the 90s and into the 2000s.
nowadays i'm well past my peak but i still master the odd game here and there, when i'm suitably motivated i.e. the game is really good and i can invest the time into it, none of them are multiplayer though, and haven't been for 15-20 years.
and these days my taste in games is getting increasingly narrower and narrower. i wish i was like some on here who seem to enjoy most of the games they play. with a lot i can enjoy the first few hours but then get bored, or others i hate from the off. ironically i buy more now than i ever have, or i did up to this gen anyway
Not sure exactly when I started gaming but definitely before I was 10 years old; saw the good ol' days of the Game Boy and NES then got our first PC in the mid-90's.
So I've been gaming for 30+ years. Since the late 80's or very early 90's I guess?
No, I'm not "pro level" lol, that's silly. Unless you count professional casual as "pro level" then hell ya I'm a pro level gamer.
I love that so many people enjoy difficult, challenging games these days with all the roguelikes and soulsbornes and whatever but the elitist baggage that comes with certain people enjoying those games and thinking that somehow makes them "pro gamer" and people that don't enjoy those games are not, almost makes them a detriment to "gamer culture" (another term I dislike lol).
"Pro level" is just goofy, please don't think of yourself as such unless you are literally getting paid to game.
..
"Pro level gamer" sounds ridiculous, and I'd rather not use that term.
Yeah, really lame.
If you want to label (would prefer you didn't lol) me, call me a "video game enthusiast" or a "connoisseur" or just simply a nerd.

37. Started with NES when I was two.

I mean very good at gaming specially multiplayer games.
I usually do well in all games that I play, multi-player or not. I'm rarely the best, but never the worst.

Define "play". I held the controller and pushed buttons while watching the TV. Got it on video too, lol.

that's what I do. means kids cannot play those games or else they keep failing over and over.
beside I doubt you are 37. maybe 40 plus. I'm in early 30s.
I have been gaming on and off since 1982 when I was seven years old (I am currently 49 years old and will be 50 next March). The first game console that I played was the Atari VCS (now known today as the Atari 2600) and did remember the video game crash of 1983.
I never considered myself a "pro" gamer as I am not that skilled in gaming as those gamers who make a living out of it.
By the way, are there posters hear who are under the age of 30? I would like to see new blood into System Wars and not see it as a forum for only increasingly older gamers.
beside I doubt you are 37. maybe 40 plus.
lol, why? I'm actually 36, birthday isn't until February. Should've said I've been gaming 34 years.
thinking why there's no 20 year old kids/teenagers here?
Yes, whenever play a Gamespot member have to deliberately lower my KI level to something comparable.
Somewhere between 30 and 50....I can't quite remember. I had access to a BBC Micro way back when. Also got an Atari 2600...though it wasn't when the system launched.
I definitely wouldn't call myself a Pro. In any competitive MP game I have played I tend to land somewhere in the middle. I don't take competitive games seriously (I also very rarely play them) and playing games as a job sounds like my idea of absolute hell. Whoever said "work at what you love and you will never work a day in your life" needs a slap.
I'm 34 now but I've been gaming since I was I guess 5 or 6? I started with NES playing Mario, Excite Bike, & Duck Hunt...lol. I then migrated over to SNES & PC...I do remember playing a lot of Descent on PC and then eventually lost my life to Warcraft III & Frozen Throne...first game ever I was really addicted to playing
I haven't played in a month or two...just been busy flying and doing other things; staying healthy, working out, dating, etc. I'm ready to get back into gaming though; was messing around a bit with my Steam library looking at some games to play on the backlog

Actually, I started when I was 2 and it was SNES. (Super Mario World)
I just played the level Yoshi's Island 2 over and over again, until I was brave enough to try other levels. Even though it was just a game, Mario dying really creeped me out in that.
I was a semi-pro Counter-Strike player back in the day. I can still hang up with the young'uns in CS2 premiere.
Let's just say over 40yrs of gaming experience.
As for being a "pro gamer" not really sure how one qualifies for that, but I will say im a pro at racing games (as I'm getting older I tend to make more mistakes now) have some best times/scores on world leaderboards for some racing games.
I'm a pro at finding games I can enjoy and enjoying them, a skill set a vast majority of gamers are incapable of ever achieving because they let the approval of others dictate what they can play. Top 1% of 1% motherfuckers 🖕😆🖕I knock out titles like dominos and have fun while I'm at it.
The rest of the losers can mope like they always do like "😢 waaah, this gen is a disappointment I got nothing good to play, waaaaaah ðŸ˜".
Super pro level gaming god bruhseph. You'll better step your game up noobs (spoken like Macho Man)...
Joking aside, everyone outside of MLG or money tournaments is a casual in the grand scheme of things...
On another note, I buy enough games to help keep the industy in tact nearly single handedly... so you're welcome. lol.
Nearly 40 years of gaming and around 25 getting my hands on everything I can that's within reach gaming related.
I still play online mp, but it seems I'm starting to slow down a bit recently. Oh well, I'll be a rusher with max movement until the day I die, and that's in just about any online game.
beside I doubt you are 37. maybe 40 plus.

Probably because this website and its forums aren't popular. They were popular back when we joined, and then we've just stayed while the website have been slowly dying. Most users here have left a long time ago. 20 year olds and kids now hang out in other places. Reddit, Twitch, Discord, Twitter, Youtube, whatever. No one hangs out on fucking GameSpot, lol.

on reddit and FB those 20 year olds feel nostalgic for shit 7th gen games like modern warfare 2, assassins creed and other games and think developers don't make games like those anymore lol.
even I saw youtube comments. people feel nostalgic for Medal of Honor 2010 and saying same thing this was gaming was good.
@ghosts4ever: Bless their little noob hearts.
Nostalgia for me is old stuff. Like.. not even gen 6 feels nostalgic to me yet. Gotta go back to at least gen 5 with N64.
late 90s and early 00s was gold. full of masterpieces. late 00s was bad especially after 2007 but people feel nastolgic for that.

2004 was best year for gaming my freind. Doom 3 , Half Life 2 , Farcry , GTA San Andreas , Chronicles of Riddick , Halo 2 , Metal Gear Solid 3 , Burnout 3 : Takedown, Ninja Gaiden Black , World of Warcraft , Prince of Persia Warrior Within.
Changed, Revolutionised gaming which is having impact even now.

if it was just nostalgia or bias I don't know how that is the case , They just aren't looking hard enough
