Im waiting till it hits the $299 sweet spot. Im not really interested in it for the games, but it is the best blu ray player available, plus it has awesome media functions. Not to mention, online play is free. Currently I game on my xbox, but when I get a ps3, ill probably buy all my multiplats for it instead to save the 50$.

I bought it for $400, and it was every bit worth it. Blu-ray, games, HD, web-browser, Home, PSN(FREE), and a Bluetooth controller. Seems like it's worth $400 to me.:)

The PS3 need a price point that can match the 360 Arcade and the Wii, so somewhere around $200+ would be nice for people who haven't got one yet.

I spent 350GBP and it came with 2 free games. The only extra thing I had to buy was the HDMI cable. That's very few added costs so it was easily worth the money.

u dont want to give corporations a reason to charge more for an entry level product. And yes lifes hard, no reason to make buying a gaming console hard.

So then what does that make PC owners who spend in excess of $2000 on ultra-high performance PC's? :| Technology costs money, incase you didn't know. ;)

I have to admit. This is where I lol'd.

I work hard, I could afford it, so i'll buy it. If people like you can't afford it, then that is not my problem.

Me too, I'm on my second gaming computer now, and I also have a PS3 (bought at launch) and used to have a Wii. In my lifetime I could easily say I've spent $10,000 overall on consoles, PC's, and AV equipment like TV's/monitors/speakers/receivers, etc.. It's worth it though. :)

it gets annoying when people keep repeating $2000, 10000$$ or whatever without knowing what they're talking about. You can get an excellent pc for around $800 canadian minus the monitor. People who spend 2000$ usually get SLI video cards, best of the top of the line cpu's, the best mobo's etc. They're usually enthusiasts. In the end the amount of money spent is still worth the parts they bought but isn't necessary to game at max settings. So you don't need to quote a 2000$$ price tag that only a fraction of pc gamers spend on their systems. The majority would spend under 1000

If it doesn't get a price cut this year, I'll just go ahead and fork out the cash for one. I'm just waiting to see if I can get it for a better deal, or if it gets a sweet bundle.

Europeans should have it easy seeing as how weak the pound is. They can save around €82 if they buy one in the UK. That applies to the Europeans outside the UK, though, not the ones inside.

If you're poor you're in the wrong hobby.

Gaming is expensive and those that lack adequate funds can't expect to keep up.

There's nothing wrong with him paying $600 for a console. He shouldn't sacrifice his hobby and wait for a price drop for the off-the-wall chance Sony will release their next console at a cheaper price. All for people who are in the wrong hobby.

So yeah... no. The "elitist" here is the one telling others what they can and can't spend their money on.

whats funny is those that think xbox360 is a better value because no matter what system you buy you still need accessories and for those that dont have wired connections they have to spend 100-150$ for network adapter on the xbox360 which is included in the 80gb ps3 and how bout the hard drives what a rip off on the 360 ps3 u can use a laptop hard drive for the ps3 if you want to upgrade

if you buy a arcade xbx360 that comes with nothing by the time you add accessories you prob pay more than the 80gb ps3

so depending on what you need or want with your system its possible you spend the same for both systems lol

example is xbox360 u need live account extra 50$ ps3 you might need a blue tooth device extra 20-60$ so both systems are expensive if you want a good gaming experience

so how much will you pay for your xbox360 or ps3?

I agree with some of what you said, but one doesn't have to be rich to enjoy gaming. Just smart and patient.

I take back everything I said. I admit im a eletist who feels sympathetic for those who cant spend like us. I used my tax return to spend $550 CAN on a 360 Elite......... So ya, I take it all back.

But you have to take into the quality and features the console had to offer. $600 was a bit steep, but well worth it at the time. I'm so glad that I picked mine up for $400, though. Even without BC, $400 is a great deal on the PS3(normally a $500 console).

I spent an awful lot for my PS3, and the expenses continue. Still gotta get a big HDTV, blu-ray movies, and MORE games. At the same time, I wanna get a PSP, and possibly an XBox 360. Yep, my wallet just never stops saving/spending itself.:P

Holy crap 900 bucks? Please tell me this was a while ago and it has backward compatibility. I paid 400 for mine. I tried to get one for cheaper, but it's hard to find new ones lower than that.

I bought it online when it first came out, so including shipping, handling and taxes around 800 Canadian dollars, which is roughly $680 American. Worth every penny imo.
