How much do you personally care about Backwards Compatability? Does anybody really care that much?
To be honest, most of my CURRENT gen games I dont even play anymore besides the ones with replay value like Halo, CoD, etc... If its a single player game, chances are once I beat it, it leaves my disk tray and goes back in the box never to be touched again for months (if ever). Ive already traded in every game I own on PS3 except for Uncharted 3 and Bad Company 2, and of the few 360 games I own, the only one that gets play time is Reach. I tend to treat my videogames like dirty little whores. I get what I want out of them, then onto the next one.
Same thing with last gen. I had PS2 and Gamecube, and I traded all my games in long before I switched to current gen. The only old games I still own are my PSone games, and that is because Gamestop stopped accepting PS1 games by the time I wanted to trade them in. And even then, Ive barely ever played them on my PS3 anyways. I played MGS1 ONCE just for the hell of it, but for the most part I find Backwards Compatability to be a novelty, nothing more. I buy consoles
Over the holidays, I bought Gears of War, Uncharted 3, Skyrim, Batman Arkham City, and Saints Row 3. These games have sat on my floor and I have no desire to take them out of the box. The only game I touch is Halo Reach, and occasionally Uncharted 3/Bad Company 2. (I might get Modern Warfare 3 solely for replay value). Ive gon months/weeks at a time without even powering on either of my consoles. if im not even playing my CURRENT gen games, whould I REALLY care about them like that NEXT gen?
Couple this with the fact that next gen consoles will likely have pretty much every relevant game ported to PSN/XBL, would you care if next gen consoles dont have Backwards Compatability?
